Anymore, CS is becoming about the biggest priority for me considering a handgun. I can shoot all of them OK, all the major makers seem to make a pretty good product, but great after the sale service is what I am looking for. Thinking of trying a new brand for a semi-auto, and would like to see if there is a trend of thought as to which has been good or bad for you.

I have not had to use S&W service for almost 17 years, and their current day prepaid shipping and continuing lifetime warranty seems very good in this day of $50 shipping for warranty work. For some reason, a new M&P is looking real good, and may happen if their CS is truly good. SIG has always seemed indifferent, and trending lower as of late, and Beretta has consistently had the worst CS over the years, and I'm tired of it... Like the product, dislike the company.

How is CZ-USA, Colt, Glock, and H&K in your experience? I know experiences and expectations can vary, just curious if some consensus can be formed. Thanks for your input.

I think right now most folks would agree that S&W's CS is as good if not better than any other out there. They seem to treat their customers as though they actually value their business, which is refreshing nowadays.

Another company that I have heard only good things about is Hi Point believe it or not. If you have any complaints they will fix your problems no questions asked and in most cases throw in some free schwag. I've also heard that they have simply replaced many of their problem guns with a new firearm. Not bad CS for a company who makes its living on 200 dollar merchandise.

HK seems to have a bad rep for CS, but the guys over at HKpro forums seem to be more than satisfied for the most part. Never delt with them myself, but I get the impression that while their CS was shoddy at one point, it is quite responsive nowadays.

The BEST customer service I have found has been from Kel-Tec. Now I just wish they made competition pistols and rifles.

:)

People complain about HK but when I bought my USED USP-40 compact, it was missing the snap ring to keep the guide rod as a single unit. I called HK and they sent me the replacement part out for free and was here within the week of my making the call. I even offered to pay them for the part and made sure they knew this was a USED gun but they still insisted on sending it to me for free. Now how can you beat that kind of service?:)

S&W has been good to me. I had them repair a revolver with peened cylinder notches (I paid for repair and shipping) and another time they sent me a pair of locking bolt springs. I had lost them during disassembly and when I called to order one they offered them for no charge :D

Taurus also handled a broken firing pin free of charge on a 2nd hand revolver with reasonable turn around service.

My Magnum Research Baby Eagle has worked flawlessly from day one and I have not had an opportunity to try their customer service.

I bought a Kimber Pro Covert II and have had problems from the beginning. Not what one would expect from a pistol priced well over grand. What is worse is attitude of Kimber. I will never buy another Kimber! On the other hand, Crimson Trace seems to be very nice to deal with.

How is CZ-USA, Colt, Glock, and H&K in your experience?
In order: have not yet had to use it, never tried it but am thinking about it, good but was nine years ago, and never used it because I don't own one. ;)

Running counter to your experience, I have had good service from SIG. They sent me prepaid shipping labels and returned the gun to me promptly. Unfortunately, they had to do this three times on the first one and once on the replacement.

I recently purchased a used Yost-Bonitz customized Colt Commander as my first 1911 and carry gun. I had some questions and after searching here found various response opinions. It occurred to me I should try and contact them and after finding they are now called Heirloom Precision I tried their phone number well after hours. A guy named Jason answered the phone and could not have been nicer or given more time and attention to me as a Newbie, than if I had been President of the United States. Apparently this guy Jason believes there is no such thing as a stupid question and is highly motivated to insure that their fine firearm owners are satisfied, even if they are not the original purchasers. And by the way, I shot this gun for the first time the next day and absolutely love it, it shoots as good as it looks.

Charles Daly's president is right here taking care of folks in the General Discussion forum, that's pretty dang impressive to me. Made me take a second look at their product line.

Otherwise, glad I've never had to test out the CS for any of my guns. I'm sure with time that day will come.

+1 about Charles Daly, I had heard a lot of things but the fact that the president of the company is patiently answering questions and trying to help on this very forum makes me want to try their products.

Ive had good luck with Ruger,S&W and T/C. T/C was the best went thru 2 frames and 4 of their pistol scopes when they broke they said "send it back" I did and they replaced it now problem.

HK is second to none!!

HK has the best CS I have ever encountered for ANY product, not just firearms. A few years ago I purchased a .45 Compact. It developed some abnormal finish wear after a few trips to the range (not common in my experience with HK) and I called, returned it to HK and within 2 weeks I had a brand new pistol. I have sent several pistols to them for night sight purchase and installation and always got a timely return with the gun. Recently I sent a P9S with an extraction question to Travis, the extremely capable gunsmith at HK Trussville, AL. He went over the gun with a fine toothed comb and replaced springs, etc. and when I got the gun back in less than 7 days, it was like a brand new P9S. I have called HK with questions on many occassions concerning ammunition, availability of new models, etc. and have always been treated with respect. Calls have always been returned within hours. I have to say Remington has been very good to me as well. Not so with some other major manufacturers.

The only experience I've had personally was Taurus, and it was pretty darned bad.

Generally I hear good things about S&W, Ruger, Springfield Armory, Kel-tec, Kahr, and NAA.

At the unpleasant end of the spectrum, I usually here most complaints about Kimber, Taurus and Beretta.

I can vote positively for CZ-USA, S&W, and Thompson Center. Taurus was helpful and friendly in dealing with faulty 24/7 Pro .45ACP magazines as well.

The oddest CS experience I had was with a CZ 2075 RAMI-P. The factory slide stop retainer spring had lost its tension abnormally fast after purchasing it new. I had my local dealer call the CZ staff gunsmith while I was there, and he told me to send it back, on their dime, no questions asked. I countered with the idea that perhaps they could just send me a spring, no big deal for me to replace it.

They were adamant about me sending the whole gun back, so I grudgingly packed it up. I had only run about 200 rounds through it by this time.

Four days later my local dealer calls to tell me that I have a pistol there waiting on me. When I went down I noticed that the serial number was different, and it came with two additional mags (in addition to the two included standard). The dealer then told me that UPS hadn't picked up the original RAMI-P until the day before the new one arrived (two days from call tag issuance).

So, they cross shipped a brand new one, with a revised edition of the slide stop retainer spring (bushed now), to boot. It's had over 500 flawless rounds thus far.

Color me happy at the end of four short days!

i have experience with sa and ruger and they are both top rate. i have been very impressed by them in the past and for a lifetime they have my loyalty. and i will be happy to buy and shoot there weapons, as well as spread there name by word of mouth to other folks. they both treated me right!

Springfield Armory has long seemed the gold standard in customer service for me.

Lately, I'm enamored of SIG USA's service. Nice folks.

Of course, I've also have good customer service from Taurus in the past.

Heard many great things about Smith & Wesson's C/S over the past year or so, but funny thing -- never had to use it!

My department seems to get pretty good customer service from H&K (we're pretty hard on our weapons), but never had to use it personally.

Oh, and I'm about to test Beretta USA's service. Seems I broke a firing pin on on of the family Tomcats, and of course, the warranty has long since expired. Beretta customers, please let me know about your interaction with these folks ...

I think right now most folks would agree that S&W's CS is as good if not better than any other out there.

That's true regarding a free shipping label and normally a fast return.

They seem to treat their customers as though they actually value their business, which is refreshing nowadays.

From personal experience, I think that is slowly fading.

Cz Usa Cs Excellent

Never had to send them one of my CZs but they are always willing to answer questions ( even stooopid ones) and when I bought my 75B used at a gun show they were happy to send me a users manual gratis . other than that the best customer service I've had was from Haas machine tools but that's not gun related

Charles Daly

I had a problem with a 1911 of theirs .
I posted to Mr. K. on the thread here at THR .
He sent a fed ex pick up slip right out .
Sent it in for repair 1-14 back on 1-21 !
And they paid shipping both ways !

compare the profit margin on the sale to the original owner. now wonder if they are really affected by sending you the ring. remembering that HK's standard policy is probibly NOT to help people with used guns like that.

now compare that to say. Hi Point. who cover thier guns. wether it was broken in the box or whether your the 50th owner. ya the parts are cheaper. but alot of time not only do they fix it. but they will throw in a spare mag, or spare parts as an apology. coming froma sub 150$ gun.... THATS SERVICE
