Best/Worst Customer Service?

Gotta say that HK has very good customer service. I developed an issue with my usp45, called and sent it in and had it back in less than 2 weeks. I have never had another issue with the pistol.

The only thing that sucked was that I had to pay overnight shipping to get it to them. I think they should have a "full" warranty for the first 6 months or so to cover problems that show up during break-in.

I have to agree with the above that HK has demonstrated great customer service while the stories of bad HK service have been just that, stories.

Kahr customer service was great. I recently had a problem removing the slide-stop pin. It wouldn't budge. The had Fed-Ex pick it up on their dime. It was returned within a week repaired. They gave me a spare mag for the trouble.

I've had the worst AND best customer service from S&W, and on the same issue.

I sent them a 4" 29-2 to have the forcing cone recut and barrel set back (It was wrong from the day I bought it used in '83.)

They did the requested work professionally and at the same time put a cut in the outside of the barrel. I went around and around with them, first with denials, then with them wanting to grind the cut out, then with them trying to go back on agreements. I gave up and got my lawyer involved. That got the head of customer service involved and things did a complete 180. I got the barrel replaced (and unfortunately the gun refinished). Neil Gibree was the only person there who seemed to be able to find his behind with both hands. I wrote the President of S&W to say so too, praising Mr. Gibree for his professionalism.

I am afraid Armalite customer service has been my worst experience.

I bought an AR-24 and loved the gun, but it had one significant problem...point of impact was 4" low at 25 feet. So I called the company and was told that they had no replacement front sights, they had no replacement rear sights, they had no adjustable sights they could spare, they did not know what aftermarket sights might correct the problem, and they had no idea the dovetail dimensions of the front or rear sight so I could find an aftermarket sight on my own. And I could not get the sights off the gun myself...I figure they were "permanently" mounted in the dovetail slots.

So, my example of worst customer service was actually NO customer service.

So I traded the gun for a CZ-75 and could not be happier. And I hate it, because the AR-24 truly is a nice gun.

In my experience the worst is by far Taurus. Made me vow to never buy another and I have talked several friends out of them as well now.
Best ..hmm, for handguns I would have to say Wilson Combat was top notch.

I have a very recent CZ warranty repair experience. I picked up an SP01 at my dealer about two months ago and added it to my stable of other CZ pistols and rifles. Out of the box, the pistol had significant ejection and feeding issues with multiple types and brands of new 9mm ammo. I called CZ and they offered to ship me a new recoil spring. The part arrived within a few days, but did not resolve the problem.

My dealer offered to mail the pistol in if I brought it by his shop (quite a drive, but still better than paying FedEx myself). I dropped the pistol off in mid-December and received it back (FedEx to my front door) on Friday.

CZ-USA's paperwork indicated they polished the chamber and installed an extra power Wolff extractor spring. The chamber looked the same, although the feed ramp had a mirror finish. I took the pistol out today and experienced my first failure during the initial magazine and at least one failure in each of the 15-20 magazines I shot.

I called CZ-USA and they offered to have FedEx pick up the pistol tomorrow from my house and deliver a NEW pistol by FedEx to my house.

I'm unhappy to have received what looks like a bad pistol... was extremely disappointed that a month and a half wait in repair didn't solve anything, but was thrilled to see CZ-USA step up to the plate and make a solid effort with a replacement.

They're a class act.

stevemis, let me know if they deliver a new pistol (with a new serial number) to your door.

Springfield Armory and STI are both excellent. Just yesterday, after only about 30 seconds on hold, one of the STI guys walked me through disassembling a 2011 frame over the phone, told me about certain trouble spots in the reassembly process, gave me his name and number, and said to call back if I had any questions during reassembly.

My experience with Kimber was the best I have dealt with. Although, I haven't had to deal with Mossberg, Weatherby, Walther or Marlin...

Thumb Safety was out of spec and they shipped me a new one within two days of the call at no charge. Just like it should be.

Just wondering, and I don't mean to hi jack this thread, but sandwich posted that Gander Mountain is a ripoff----anyone else have this opinion.
I post this because sandwich is not taking e-mails and I am looking to buy a SP 100 Ruger from them, even tho the price seems high, $599.
Thanks, Floyd
