Better Compact 9mm for CCW? Glock 26 vs. CZ Rami

I currently have a Steyr S9 (with some S40 mags that hold 12 rounds of 9mm). After numerous failures to extract and more time with other pistols (CZ's and 1911's) I have found that it has the wrong grip angle for me and I would like to replace it. I have shot Glock 26's and liked them while I don't like the 19's and 17's as much because of the grip. I have never shot the RAMI but love CZ's manual safety to carry cocked and locked. I'm really leaning towards a Glock 26 because it is smaller than the RAMI, has cheaper and more available parts and accessories, is lighter and will be reliable for sure. It also has factory night sights available.

I'm also thinking about just getting a Glock 29 in 10mm (already have 2 other 10mm's) instead of the G26 as I feel it will be more useful for hiking and other activities where I would feel undergunned with a Glock 26 9mm. In fact, the Glock 29 is lighter and even shorter in height than the RAMI. I love the look of the RAMI, but it is even taller than my Steyr S9 and holds 2 fewer rounds!

Which do you prefer between the RAMI and the Glock 26 and why?

Why should I get the Glock 26 over the Glock 29?

P.S. I do have a Kahr PM9 for easy CCW but I'd like something that is 10+1.

I would take the G26. I really like it and the Rami, but I like the simplicity of the Glock. Another plus for the Glock is cheap and readily available magazines, and Glock magazines are fantastic quality. The same isn't true for the CZ, it really is about the only downside of the CZ for carry use.

I would not do the G29, if I need 10mm power I can carry a much larger handgun with more control and shootability.

Actually either way you're doing well. The G26 has a proven history, the Rami is gaining one as a CCW reliable weapon also.
CZ mags, if they are OEM, are as good as any out there. The problem is with Pro Mags and other "lesser" quality mags being sold as OEM" on Ebay and through questionable dealers. The OEMs are currently Mec Gars and are also used by Sig, Keltec, S&W and tens of other world class gun makers.

Id shoot both of them before you make up your mind. The size difference is really NIL! A good holster will hide either equally well. I carried a Rami in pocket and IWB. The Rami is more accurate for me unless you carry the little Glock with the finger extensions on the mags.

I don't care for Grock, and I have shot the majority of them. The only subcompact Grock I sort of like is the 30. The RAMI is an excellent pistol, with a growing good rep, in 9mm. The 40 has a rep for not performing up to par, and very snappy recoil.
My wife loves her RAMI, and I dont mind shooting it, either! If you get a RAMI, don't forget there are two accesory makers right here, Hakan's grips, ad HBE Leatherworks, both look great/work great with a RAMI.

If the Rami had an ambidextreous safety, I might have looked harder at it (i'm a lefty). Since it doesn,t I'm totally happy with my 26

CZs have a trigger positioned too far forward for my small hands to use them correctly. Even the Rami. I held one last week and I cannot reach the trigger using a proper grip.
I'll go with a Glock or a Springfield XD compact.

In fact, I did go with the XD 9 Compact.

I thought this would be a problem for me too.

I wear a mens small glove, however the finger tips of the glove are still too long for my fingers.

However if he intends to carry it cocked and locked, the trigger will be perfect.

The problem may arrise if he carries it with 1 in the pipe and the hammer is not cocked back.

If you only want 10+1 for whatever reason (instead of 12+1 with normal capacity Glock 26 magazines), a Kel-Tec P11 would be smaller and lighter, though larger than your Kahr.

I have never seen 12 round Glock 26 mags for sale, do they exist and do they hand down below the magwell?

I'm really leaning towards going with a Glock 29 in 10mm right now. Kahr PM9 for regular CCW and G29 when I need some real security.

yes, they hang below the mag well a little bit (the glock factory +2 that is), I have one inbound, I'll post a pic once it gets here; there are also aftermarket mag bases that mimic the factory checkering and give a little pinky rest.

If I were you I`d go for the 29. Stoke that baby with some 175gr. Silvertips or anything from DT and you should be all set. It and the 20 are the only Glocks that really appeal to me. Marcus

You can use a G-17 17 round mag as a back up and if thats not enough capacity for you, you can use the G-18 33 round magazine

I have tried both in my g26 and they function perfectly.

The g-26 besides being smaller and lighter is like a bar of soap, it does not have a hammer to snag on you clothes when you are drawing it from deep cover.

The G26 will work with a pocket holster, I would say the Rami being just a bit bigger and heavier and Hornier will not work as well or at all with a pocket holster.
