I purchased a Browning HP (P35) in 9MM last week at the gun show. I can't complain as the price was exceptional, a mere $575.00 for a new BHP, 2 pair of AJAX grips, an extra 13-round magazine and a box of lead-free ammo! Deal of deals for me. :) The dealer "switched out the original wood grips and installed a pair of "JAX Simulated Pearl" grips, and included a set of JAX Cherry wood grips to boot.

I am not complaining, I simply need clarification and some other BHP owners' insights of what I am experiencing.

When I went to the range to fire it for the first time, I noticed that the Ajax simulated pearl grips would "shoot loose".

The Ajax cherry wood grips quite simply do not even fit. When I lay the left grip onto the frame, the screw hole is misaligned by approximately 3/16 of an inch.

The simulated pearl grips do fit in terms of alignment, but the left one slides around a bit, shoots loose, and worst of all, when I insert a magazine into the pistol, it moves (lifts) the left grip.

After firing 100 rounds, and as I was cleaning the pistol, a chunk of pearl grip fell out of the magazine well. The grip actually cracked off a 1" piece.

It leaves me questioning how 2 pair of Ajax grips could be that bad, or if perhaps it's the pistol's grip that was somehow machined improperly?

Thoughts and past experiences with your BHPs?

Thank-you,

Geno

Never ever had a QC issue with any of my Hi Powers it has to be the grips. The only grips that I have ever had an issue with are the gunners I just bought but they did say I would have to wrok with them to fit.

Let us know what Ajax has to say they are usually a real good firm to deal with.

Good Luck
