Hard to tell whether a bore is NG or just dusty dirty dingy without running a Boresnake(TM) through it. Whenever I'm looking at a gun I bring my own case, a boresnake and my own borelight along. Shows 'em I mean bidness.
Looking down a bore without running a patch or a Boresnake(TM) through it is like kicking the tires on a car --a useless gesture.
First one I looked at was off the rack, bore was "eh!"
They brought a couple out of the back for me and the first one I ran the Snake through was "it." Good wood, only three or four very very minor dings, hardly used, if at all... must've been issued to an Officer, heh. No marring from attaching the bayonet on the muzzle.
Polished up very nicely at home.
It was packaged in a nice carboard box with an almost complete kit: dual compartment oil/cleaner bottle, tools, ramrod tips, ammo pouches, a sling, muzzle protector, bolt disassembly tool, and some other stuff. The bayonet was carefully wrapped in newsprint. So I didn't need the case I'd brought along.
All factory numbers matched, except for the bayonet.
Totally packed with care. I was very impressed.
