10mm Hornady 175 gr Flex Lock fired from 4.5" barrel EAA Witness through four layers of denim into calibrated 10% gelatin.

BB: 591.8 fps, 3.5"

Impact velocity: 1,153 fps
Penetration: 13.0"
Retained weight: 175.1 gr
Max expansion: 0.695"
Min expansion: 0.545"

So, like a moran I forgot that I had already tested this load but since I tested it again, I might as well publish the results. Unsurprisingly, the numbers are nearly identical to the first test.

Could have told you the test gun was an EAA Witness by looking at the fired cartridge in the video. I had one in .45ACP and I could never come up with a way to stop the firing pin wipes on the primer.

The 9mm CZ75 I have doesn't. I always thought that when EAA scaled the CZ75 design up to .45ACP & 10mm maybe they didn't quite get something right.

It certainly functions well enough and Tanfoglio does quality work, but I don't know of any of their products that are truly original. It's possible that their R&D isn't the best.

I was expecting more than 12 inch penetration especially from a 10 mm.

The higher velocity of the 10mm often causes the bullet to expand too rapidly and too much, causing it to slow more quickly and not reach deeply. Most bullets are designed for .40 S&W, too. It's also worth noting that a 135 gr .400" bullet doesn't have the same sectional density as a 135 gr .358" bullet.

Those 10 mm are clocking like 1400 plus fps similar to .357 Mag which are of lesser bullet diameter . But like you said they open up very quicky thus slowing down their travel.
