BIG scope rings for little scope mounts

I am looking to mount a red dot (big fat tube) on a really, really narrow 22 barrel mounted scope base.
So what I need is someway to take the red dot which wants a standard/weaver mount, and find some way to get it to clamp to that skinny little strip of metal.
Biiiiig rings to go around the red dot tube with a 22-sized clamp?
Any other ideas?
