I just caught part of a replay of an interview/comments made by Mr. Bill Mahar. I believe that I heard Mr. Mahar state "The second is Amendment is bull <deleted>." Did anyone else see this interview or hear a replay of Mr. Mahar's comments?

He's pretty much irrelevant. I find his smarmy self-important attitude to be really annoying. And that is the HighRoad version of my opinion...

I didn't see it, but it doesn't surprise me.
I don't imagine very many gun owners are big fans of Bill Maher.

Strangely, I think he's a funny guy and I'll watch him. Doesn't mean I agree with everything though.

Many are ready to die to defend the Constitution of the United States. I wonder how many are ready to die to destroy it. I wonder if Mr. Mahar believes in anything, or is ready to die for anything.

He actually made some more gun friendly comments in the past and stated or implied that he owns guns (assume handgun for self defense as he is not a hunter)

His job is being controversial and falling into the trap of paying any attention to him only gives him power.

Who cares? When did this become a tattle tell board of every celebrity who says something anti-gun? He has a first amendment right to say what he wants just as everybody else. Is anybody actually going to cancel their HBO subscription because of this? I agree with him on alot but not all so i'll keep watching him as i don't expect every person in the world to think exactly like me.

I cancelled my HBO subscription because of Maher and others they employ.

As is your right but i assume you did so based on your own personal analysis of their content rather than what somebody else on a message board said.

I don't really understand his position. It's just a weird statement coming from someone who owns a gun(s).

I understand his point on that. What pride is their to take in simply owning an object? It's a tool, not an accomplishment.

I cancelled my membership about a year ago because I personally witnessed several shows including Maher's with a far left bias, sometimes in statements made by characters in shows. I will not tolerate when a media outlet tries to brainwash me. I watch very little network tv, and avoid PBS, and NPR for that reason.

Since you know nothing about me other than what I post on here, I don't know why you'd even think I would base my actions solely on what others say on the internet or anywhere.

Excuse me but i actually said the exact opposite.

Right, but if we were all "not proud gun owners", we wouldn't be gun owners for long. Taking pride in a right defines it as important and defensible. He owns a firearms but advocates for the second amendment to be abolished? He wants to practice his right to own a firearm without doing anything to ensure it for himself or future generations.

I do admit that I also agree with him on a lot of issues but this argument just seems backwards to me.

He uses an old tactic that gets both sides to watch...if you love him, then you watch him to see what he's going to say next...however, people that hate him watch him for the same reason. He wins either way. The best thing you can do to make him go away is ignore him...

He is a Libertarian. The big government type so long as it is the one stomping on anothers rights.
His brand of Libertarianism is what is killing the 3rd party movement. There isn't a tent big enough for me to get under it with him.

Indeed. As they say - the opposite of love is not hate. Love and hate are both strong emotions that lead to much involvement with something or someone. The opposite of love is indifference.

Eh, it is hard to be tough on Maher. It is like being mad at a puppy for peeing on the floor. It is just another poor animal that doesn't have enough sense to know better.

We can say he is not a Libertarian just like I can say John McCain is not a Republican but that's what they claim. They are both Mavericks too.

Are you proud of typing right now as you are expressing your first amendment right? Proud to be breathing per your right to life? Maybe its a different definition of the word "proud" but not being proud does not equate to being ashamed. I just believe pride should be reserved to exceptional or meaningful accomplishments. For example, one should be proud of their work to preserve gun rights but not of the simple act of buying a gun. One can even be proud of an impressive gun collection because of the effort that went into amassing it but i don't understand being proud of doing something as simple as buying a gun or any other tool.

Or he just believes what he says.

Fans of Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc belive they have character and integrity but Maher, Maddow, Mathews just say stuff to get attention and vice versa.

Most who bash pundits do so only becuase they believe what the pundits they do like say about the other side.

Boy i would love to point out which party thinks its the governments role to tell people who they can marry, what to do with their bodies, forces terminal patients who wish to choose their own fate to suffer needlessly, throws people in prison for drug violations that hurt nobody else, violate seperation of chruch and state, condone torture, tell people how they can have sex and now even how to wear pants but i won't.
