I hope I'm putting this in the right place but wanted to mention that I recently swapped out the pistol grip on my Mossberg 500 for a birdshead grip from Shockwave Technologies and it made a world of difference in comfort and contrl versus the pistol grip. I know some of you will advice staying with a full stock or even stock/grip combo but my concealment needs are very precise. A stock wouldn't have done it for me ...but the standard pistol grip was way to uncomfortable. The birdshead grip provides a very natural ergonomic grip that lets to blast energy flow with your wrist instead of into it. The grip I bought from Shockwave fit perfectly (no adjustments needed of any kind) and arrived earlier than the estimated delivery date. Wondering if any others have switched to a birdshead and how's it working out? Thanks. -- Tim

I have used one on my Mossberg 500. It is far superior to the standard pistol grips.
When people dismiss the PG shotgun, they really don't have any idea how different the birds head is.
Combined with today's low recoil slugs and buckshot, it is a whole different proposition.

In my experimentation with pistol grips, I quickly devised for myself the push/pull hold...that is, pushing forward on the fore grip hard, while pulling back on the pistol grip.
Having decided that worked well, I tried different fore ends to improve grip.
I ended up liking the Hogue over molded forend best. Very grippy.
The other plus of the birds head grip with the Mossberg, is ease of using the safety.
Here is a pic of mine. I picked this Mossberg up out of a pile of used security company riot guns at a gun show a dozen years ago...cost was $79. It was pretty ugly, but worked perfectly. It was also extremely smooth to operate, from all the use it had. With this set up, I have no problem putting full power slugs or buckshot on a target out to 25yds. Low recoil makes it easier.

Wilson Arms produced the first LE style pistolgrip shotgun. It was called the Wilson Witness Protection shotgun . It was a SBS with the birdshead pisolgrip and was made to be fired at arms length (pushed out in front of you at eye level)as you would fire a normal stocked shotgun .
The birdshead grip doesn't beat your wrists up (if used properly)as the normal pistolgrips do,at least inmy opinion.
