I have a...

birthyear M1 Garand, and several Mosin Nagants and a Turk Mauser......chris3

I was also born in '86 and although being significant in firearms history for all the WRONG reasons. I dont know of any guns that debuted that year. Was the P85 new in '86?

I believe it's design was either approved or created in '85 and the gun came out in either 86 or 87....but not 100% on that I'll have to double check when I get home <mumbles about stupid no-carry on fed. property>

Some of you are going to hate this, but...

Anything come to mind for 1990?
Even if you do think of something, I can't buy it yet. I'll get it later though.

ArfinGreebly 1949 was the year sturm Ruger started in the firearms business it all started with his MK I .22 pistol maybe one of these would work either an original or one of the newer ones.
I ended up with a Walther P-1 (P-38 alloy frame) with not only my birth year but also birth month stamped on it and being a Walther it has my first name on it as well.:D

Did 1974 have any guns worth noting?

Unless I am mistaken, the S&W 63 made its debut in 1974, along with the pencil barrel. I picked one up a couple of years ago as my "High School Graduation" gun, and received a very nice example for ~$220.00.

For those who don't know, the 63 is the stainless steel verison of the venerable Model 10.

Any other 1956 birth year folks?

It's funny you post this... I've been on the lookout for a '56 Python for several months now and have yet to stumble across one..... unfortunately it's one of the more expensive and rare versions to acquire... but my search continues. Figures a gun as old as I am is so expensive and hard to come by!

anyone know of one for sale ???

Anything worthy of note made in 1949?
Year of my birth and a Winchester 94 and Marlin 39 I own. Now to find the elusive Remington made the year and month, barrel stamped L, UU. as I will never afford a 1949 Ruger.

I Also have a Winchester 06 made in 23 year my Father was born.
A Ruger Super Single-Six from 73 year my son was. Last year of the Three Screw Single-Six.

I'm a bit of a CZaholic, so I found 2 CZ's from my birth year--1948. Here's my CZ DUO made in '48

and here's my CZ Model 45 also made in 1948.

The CZ Model 45 has custom grips made by Dennis Marschal from Prague.

Ahh I found what I need to celebrate my birth year! A S&W Model 76

Can someone loan me $10-grand-ish? :p

Hey, on this note...
My grandpa was born in 1917 and just turned 90. He's always been a shooter and I'd like to get him something nice along the "birth year" topic. Any ideas? He can't handle any really hard recoiling calibers now but it would be nice to get him a gun he can appreciate and shoot a little.
I'm sure there were some great weapons made back then. He customized a springfield 1903a3 for my Dad when he was 12 that is a tack driver and has taken more deer than who knows.

Ok, first of all, I want to say to all you guys born in the 1970s and 1980s... bite me.

About 2 years ago I accidentally acquired 3 pistols made the year I was born. Well, I meant to buy them, but not because of their date of manufacture, they just happened to turn out to be from my birth year.

A pair of 44 Special 3rd Model Targets. One shipped exactly one week after my birth day and the other 6 months later.

This is a Ruger Standard Model pistol. Got it pretty cheap (I think I paid $140) and it's in very nice shape. Also turned out to have been made in 1955.

Eliphalet the year of manufacture on the CZ 45 is on the left side on the trigger guard, next to the "crown & lion" proof mark.

On the CZ DUO the year of manufacture is also on the left side right in front of the serrations on the slide and below the "crown & lion" proof mark.

At least that's where they are on mine!

Buck,
I meant where did you find the data for dates made not where on the gun. I have a older military or police CZ in 9mm, and would like to know when it was made if possible and have no idea where to find such information.
I got it in a trade, it was made in Yugoslavia, and it would be interesting to know a bit more about it.
Thanks

Good Grief..I'm 61!!

About the only thing to "ID" my birth year (1946) is S&W's "The K-38 Target Masterpiece" -"Pre Model 14"..Introduced at serial K1661. Manufactured c. 1946 - 1982. Became the Model 14 in 1957.
