heys gents, got kind a dumb question traded into a mess of black hills .38 special 148 grain match wadcutters but the lead bullett is seated all the way even with the end of the brass,if that makes sense, never seen a bullet like that except i seen a picture for that gas seal nagant revolver ammo.is this ammo ok to plink with.

That's how many wadcutters are seated and is perfectly normal. The brass may even be criped over the end of the bullet.

put them in your revolver and pull the trigger (after aiming at your target) that will seat them further out of the brass ;)

thanks fellas yeah thats what i meant to say the brass was crimped over the end of the flat nosed lead,it was just odd to me im used to round nose.let r rip.

My Giles .38 Special M1911 won't shoot anything else but that or similar handloads. Typical .38 Special rounds won't even fit in the magazine.

You bet. Wadcutters ruled the roost in bullseye competition back in the days when revolvers were used there. They'll be excellent for plinking; enjoy them. :)

Some wadcutters have a hollow base resembling a cup to help upset and fill the rifling grooves, others are double-ended so it doesn't matter which way you load them.

Most likely these are target wadcutters loaded to a low velocity, but ones with some speed behind them should be fairly formidable defensive loads. At least, as the in-gun load; they are poorly suited for speedloaders as the reload. For more info, get the book Guns, Bullets and Gunfights by Jim Cirillo.
