I mounted a 2x Leupold on my 480 Ruger SRH. It was my first experience with a scope on a big handgun. I don't regret my choice and recommend the 2x. It is just amazing how unsteady you are with a handgun. Tis why I started using a monopod. Tried a short tripod, but that didn't work at all. The monopod can serve as sort of a walking stick and you are carrying your revolver rest with all the time for shots of opportunity that sometimes happen.
I bought that gun with the intention of mounting a scope for deer hunting. I have since started to lean toward red dots.
