I was wondering if there are kits available for the beginning blackpowder shooter?

I know Pedersoli sell different kits for flintlocks and percussion guns. how do they rate?

At the moment i only have a cap and ball revolver waiting for me, but theres someone at my pistol club who is getting out of shooting and has offered two rifles, one percussion and one flintlock at a very reasonable price.

And another Q, where would be a good place to get them? even with shipping i can save 50% from buying from the States and sending over here :banghead:

Traditions sells some reasonably priced starter kits for flintlocks, revolvers and percussion guns. Some of the items may be of lower quality or unnecessary so buying the items separately should be considered. But generally their brass items are very good.

Here's examples of the Traditions flintlock shooter's kit:

Traditions sidelock [percussion rifle] shooter's kit:

2 different Traditions revolver shooter's kits:

One of the only outfits that I know of that ships internationally is www.Dixiegun.com
Although they sell many items I didn't notice any shooting kits listed.

I agree with Articap, and I'd second the recommendation that those kits are in the category of "not bad at all". I find the small priming tube in the flintlock kit may be unnecessary, in some flintlocks, but the kit is made for Traditions flintlocks, and they use a lock with a small pan, which is where that comes in handy. You will need a screwdriver for either a caplock or flintlock as well, and some folks like a cleaning "jag", which is caliber specific, so not included in the basic kit as they don't know the caliber of your rifle. :) I have also found an inexpensive pair of needle nosed pliers good for getting pesky spent caps off the nipple if one has a misfire. Finally you will want an average sized safety pin, to help keep the nipple on the caplock or the touch hole on the flinter clear of debris. They are cheap, work great, and you can fasten them to your clothes so you don't forget them nor drop them in the woods. You can keep several squirreled away in your shooting gear for just such a situation. You should be set. :D
