I was browsing for ammunition tonight, and noticed at ammoman.com a listing for a 'New item by CCI' called Blazer Brass; Blazer ammunition in a brass case. It was listed as available in 9mm , 40 SW, and 45 ACP; didn't look further than that.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It doesn't seem to be listed on the Speer/CCI web site.

I've heard from several individuals that blazer is going to go brass.

Although I have no experience with it, I'd bet its a sure performer. I love using speer lawman. In .357 sig, its nice and hot!

I posted a question to CCI/ Blazer on their website, asking for more information, and received this response:

"Tim: we are working on the inclusion of the Blazer Brass data for the website, right now. This ammunition is new and it has made it to the marketplace ahead of the website information. Shoot Straight! Coy Getman CCI/SPEER Tech. Service Coordinator"

I think that Lawman will still be available, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Cool! Blazer works great for me, hopefully it will stay around the same price. (I don't currently reload, but I save brass because I plan to eventually.)

maybe my range will allow blazer now.

I think it's great that ranges turn away customers who shoot non-brass ammo to make the extra $$ from the people who buy the spent casings. Even better is that they sell brass ammo at their range for only a 200% markup :fire:

they start using brass casings I will buy it if the price is same as before.

I am tired of seeing junk casings(steel, aluminum) at ranges I visit. stuff could be recycled. everybody wants to go shoot and no one wants to be responcible for the :cuss: mess they leave behind.:fire:

I'm glad they went to brass, I get tired of hearing ppl bitch about having to pick my aluminum cases out of the brass they plan on loading, and swept up off the floor for free.

I shoot aluminum cased ammo occassionally, and I pick it up just the same as brass. I have never reloaded.

At some ranges I've been to, you're not responsible for the spent casings...it's included in the cost of shooting. RO's or other employees take care of it. At other ranges, you have to sweep up after yourself.

I just don't like driving 45 minutes to a particular range, then being told I can't shoot unless I buy their overpriced PC brass cased ammo. That's when I leave, never to return.

I'd buy Blazer brand ammo if they used brass instead of Aluminum. Esp if the pricing is the same.

I agree with you on that one. For me, though, it is actually cheaper to buy the Wal-Mart Winchester 100 packs of 9mm at 10.95 a box. The best I can find blazer is a little under $5 a box, but then I have to contend with shipping. It makes sense to mail order some if I'm also ordering an odd caliber, like .32 or something...Wal-Mart charges around $11 for 50 rounds of UMC .32 last time I checked.

Sure hope they bring back the .357 SIG. I'm down to less than 500 rounds of the lead-free LE surplus stuff I've been using.

Good point, 45R. I've read a simliar situation where a gentleman couldn't get the whitebox ammo he needed...asked the store manager and they ordered something along the lines of 6k rounds, just to have it in stock. You might even try calling when the sports dept manager is around...maybe they can accomodate :D

On an OT note, I went to the local Wal-Mart and inquired about the steel loads they had for duck hunting. The associate pointed me to the 00 buck rounds they had. :uhoh: I quickly dismissed him and continued shopping.

Another time (at the same Wal-Mart), my brother bought some 9mm whitebox for his pistol. They lady at the checkout asked him if the rounds were for a handgun (since you have to be 21 to buy handgun ammo). He said no, they are for a shotgun. The lady accepted his answer and didn't even ID him!

lol! that reminds me of the time I went and asked for .45ACP ammo and the kid handed me a box of 45 gr .223 Remington ammo. I laughed my rear off. I was like hey kid I'm looking for .45ACP not .45gr rifle ammo. :D He was like huh.

One time I bought 600 rounds of the 9mm stuff and they put me in the electronics line. A few sheeples saw the amount of ammo that I had and left the line. Sales guy asked me your buying alot of ammo what do you need all this ammo for..............:scrutiny:

Another time a sales associate said you need 9mm ball. Why..... you should shoot .45ACP I served in the Corp and the .45ACP is better. LOL

Once in a great moon.....this happens. I'd like some 9mm 100ct packs please. How many.......all that you have. Here you go Sir. Have a nice day! Enjoy your outting. :what: Yep Its a true story. :)

Now Walmart needs value packs in .38 special, .357 mag and .357 Sig. Oh and .308

I'm another guy who "plans to reload" and I save all my brass. But....I have tried many, many brands of factory ammo and have found aluminum
cased Blazer: the cheapest, the cleanest burning, and more accurate than most(9mm). My guess is CCI will charge a bit more for the reloadable Brass Blazer, and continue to produce the less expensive aluminum Blazer. BTW, I also pick up my aluminum Blazer empties. The main "naysayers" are the ones who harvest free brass, and the aluminum cuts into their freebies.

I had been told in the past that the aluminum Blazer is very dirty and even bad for your gun. Is this true or were they just trying to get me to buy the more expensive ammo? Other than the reloading factor, is there any reason not to use these rounds?

C M Wangs! L I B! M R Ducks!

I haven't heard that one in forever! You got a good laugh outta me on that one Blues!:p

I just checked the cci-ammunition.com web site, and though there is no mention yet of the Blazer Brass in their 'New Products' section (for 2003, though), they do show several flavors of new Blazer frangible, all in aluminum cases. So, it appears that CCI will still offer aluminum-cased ammunition, but maybe not in the line we currently know (?).

And, MrFreeze and Bluesbear, I have no idea what those acronyms mean .

Pronounce each letter separately, but say the words...repeat it a couple times and maybe it will come together ;)
