So my preferred practice load for my 16” AR is 24.0 grain of H335 with a Hornady 55gr FMJ. I have a pound of BLC-2 that I need to use and the various data I’m seeing is kind of all over the place. What charge should I use to be mild and reasonable accurate out of my AR?

Not looking for great accuracy (my 77 grain loads do that), just something decent to put the powder to safe use for close quarters training.

I use 26.5-27.5 grains behind the various plastic tip varmint bullets in the 50-55 grain weight range. My 27.5 grain charge is safe here (Arkansas) but has flattened primers out in the Texas Panhandle during the Summer months.

I use 26.9gr under a 55gr bullet.
VERY accurate in most rifles with a capable bullet. FMJ’s ARE NOT capable.
A friends AR BENCH RIFLE (1-1/8” Douglas XX match bull barrel turned by David Sams to remove machine marks) 26” length, shot 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tips under 1/2” at 100yds, seated to feed from a magazine.
27.5gr will also flatten primers in Georgia summer heat, too! Even in the shade…

Thanks all. Given the temperature sensitive nature, would 26 grains likely cycle and be acceptable accuracy wise out of my AR? Bullets are Hornady 55 fmj and have been surprisingly accurate (not quite Vmax but pretty darn good).

Exactly. 26ish is a good place to be for my Hornady 55sp. Meters well for me. Not hard to find so don't be telling people

I have both the Hornady 62grn BTHP's, and the 62grn FMJ's... I wonder sometimes if the FMJ's don't shoot better than the BHTP's...

For me the sp serves better. Older Fudd with big box of 55's. I should try some of those sleeker bullets. Anyway blc-2 is never a bad choice

I use 26.5 grains and 55 gr M193s as a plinking load. I don't have my reloading notebook in front of me, but I believe it yields 2750-2800 FPS.

I've used 26 grains of some surplus powder marketed as BL(C)-2 and generic no name 55 gr fmj bullets for years. They have shot just fine for me and I'm not expecting them to be match grade, but they do much better than I think I should.

Thanks all, think I’ll load 26.0 grains and go train with it until the pound of powder is gone. I reserve the 77 grain SMK for longer distances as they aren’t cheap. IMG_5844.jpeg
