I saw this article the other day and thought he wouldn't run it in Ohio. Well, today I saw the idiotic ad urging me to contact Senator Portman to adopt UBC. I'm writing a letter to let the senator know my feelings about UBC and I'll not support him if he doesn't support me.

http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/mar/25/miller-mayor-bloombergs-irresponsible-gun-attack-a/

In short the article is written by Emily Miller and she critizes the actor's poor gun safety.

The ad is offensive as it stereotypes gun owners. It's also very dangerous since low information voters will likely believe it. I'm not going to take the chance they won't believe it.

My moral is stay vigilant and don't let what happened in Colorado happen to your state.

I hope the public don't equate shotgun-toting, freedom-hating hunters with the second amendment.

The vast majority of "shotgun totin" hunters aren't "freedom hating" at all.
A lot of them (though less every day) just don't understand what's really at stake.
A big part of our job to teach them.

Watch the video and pay attention to how the person is holding the shotgun. The bolt is closed and his finger is on the trigger. Talk about irresponsible. These ads should be pulled.

I wish that idiot would stay in his own state. He's done ruining that one? He's gotta try to ruin the other 48? (Illinois is not a state...)

Bolt closed, yes, but no finger on the trigger in either ad. In one, his finger is forward of the trigger guard, in the other, behind it. Much as I dislike these ads and the intent behind them, I'm not going to be dishonest with myself or anyone else about what is or isn't being done in them.

To me in looked in the second ad like his finger was on the trigger. I guess it could have been just forward of the trigger guard, but don't we teach "index high on the receiver" so that it's obvious to everyone where it is?

I think the point is that the guy in the ad is an actor and knows $*@(# about firearms.

What is it with people like Bloomberg trying to screw with people. People in America just want to be left alone. That's all. Really. The fact that his SAFE act is falling apart just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I wonder what would happen if the SAFE act was repealed? He would probably wash his mouth out with buckshot just to prove his point that guns are bad. He is a very sad man. I've always noticed that the people that want to make rules for everyone else to follow but them are always the most mentally unstable. If New York is so safe now then how come he needs 6 or more bodyguards?

I know what you meant don't get me wrong. but that's the problem and , something that JUST CAN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE.that's what they're counting on.excuses excuses, here's a short list

-someone else will call.
-the march is an hour away...
...glad there was a good turnout
-here's a real good one>>>> I CALLED A WHOLE ONCE <<<<
-my senator / rep is on my side
-that's another state
-etc.

While ppl like B-berg keep hammering, hammering their points 'home'. fill the minds with mush...works in schools

Of course the ad is in Ohio. Mayor Coleman of Columbus, Mayor Mallory of Cincinnati, Mayor Jackson of Cleveland, and many other mayors in Ohio are all part of 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' (shown at the end of the ad). Which would be fantastic if they were actually doing something about guns used illegally, rather than place additional burden on gun owners who adhere to the law. The laws on the books already are more than sufficient for this. But being part of a hipsters mayor club makes it APPEAR that they are doing something, without having to actually do something.

I saw the ad a few times last night and again this morning.
The shotgun looks like it just came out of the box. The 'hunter' looks extremely uncomfortable even touching a gun. His body language makes him look like he's deathly afraid of something...or else he needs a good 20 minutes in the bathroom. You'd think they would've hired a better actor. I half expected to hear him say, "I am not reading this"....
As for the 'message'? It is Bloomberg's right and his money, so he can do this if he wants to....but he should at least be honest about the message.
This ad is so orchestrated that I half expected to see the old man and woman from 'American Gothic' in the background.

Yes, I'll be writing Portman. But not for the reason the ad wants.
.

This advertisement has also played in Georgia, urging voters to "call Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isackson".

They are pushing in "purple" states, and in states where demographics are changing, and in states where they think senators can be persuaded (i.e. Saxby is 50% RINO, and not running for reelection next year).

Could somebody who knows that gun say, with certainty, whether the actor's finger is on the trigger?

I own several of them.
His finger certainly appears to be well in front of the trigger guard.

The top- front of the rather sloped trigger guard on 870s is almost directly below the rear of the ejection port.

Sorry guys and gals but after seeing the add again on my tv ( its not a 40 inch) the bolt being closed and his hand where it is it is abad example to anyone watching. Since some say yes some say no its not clear therefore a horrible example of how to handle a gun. Remember kids see these adds too. I would not have anyof mine handle a gun like this when not actively shooting it. Itsa bad add.

It looks to me (in the second video) as though his index finger is in front of the trigger guard but his middle finger is inside of it.
