I have used the data form the Alliant 2005 reloaders guide. I believe that within the past year Alliant has cautioned everyone not to use Blue Dot in 10mm reloads. You will have to check the Alliant website.

I could not find any warning on the Alliant web site about not using Blue Dot in the 10mm. But, i will admit, it was not an exhaustive search.

All three 10mm bullets they list in the reloading section have Blue Dot recipes.

Blue Dot is great in 10mm and pretty decent in .40 ...if you push it a little bit. It's not a powder that burns well in lighter/low pressure loads.

You have a half can of one of the best powders ever made. Blue dot is a shotgun powder but it is superb for medium to 3/4 loads for magnum pistols.
For 44 Mag I use 15 grains behind a 240 gr Keith. Lovely.
For 357 mag I use 9 grains behind a 150-158 gr gas check.
If you would look over the loading data you will find an odd thing. Grain for grain you get more velocity with less pressure than other powders up to 3/4 loads.
It also shoots very clean, not dirty and little smoke.
Enjoy!

I'm pretty sure you are thinking about the 125 grain .357 Magnum and .41 Magnum warning from around 2008
Blue Dot® should NOT be used in the 357 Magnum load using the 125 grain projectile (Blue Dot® recipes with heavier bullet weights as specified in Alliant Powders Reloading Guide are acceptable for use).
Blue Dot® should NOT be used in the 41 Magnum cartridge (all bullet weights).
Use of Blue Dot® in the above cases may cause a high pressure situation that could cause property damage and serious personal injury.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

They still list formulas for Blue Dot on their site here.

If you're getting a lot of unburned powder in your barrel
and chamber, like any powder, you're not loading it hot
enough. Get to the upper end of the load range and it'll
clear right up.

BlueDot needs a lot of pressure to burn clean.

Tried in once in 38 Special, horrible performance. Lots
of unburned powder everywhere. Bench, barrel, star
extractor.

All the Best,
D. White

9 mm, 115 gr FMJ, 6.9 to 7.0 grains makes a sweet shooting round that prints within a very tight pattern at 10 yards out of my Glock 17 and 17L.

That being said, my favorite load is Power Pistol now. The higher you load it however you will have to adjust your sites up.
