Hello,
I picked up a mossberg 500 yesterday and went trap shooting with the boss. Lots of fun. Rushed to every store to find one within the 2 hours before going. I ended up with a ported barrel version to my chagrin. However, didn't notice any negative effects.
I am of short stature, 5' 6" (maybe 7), and didn't find the wood stock too difficult to control. However, I am considering a shorter lop stock. Is a short lop bad for trap? Harder on the shoulder?
I know Hogue makes a short lop stock, but it is synthetic. Anyone now of a a wood mossberg 500 short lop stock?
Additionally, if such a thing does not exist, I really like the looks of the laminate Boyds' gunstocks. Beautiful looks. Does anyone have one? Can you comment on the buttpad's recoil compared to stock? Ease of installation? etc. Pics even?
Thanks!
Had a great time.
