obx I guess my 10/22 factory magazines are defective then because they simply would not latch into my buddies 77/22 and I suppose Ruger lists the 77/22 magazine as a JX-1 and the 10 shot 10/22 magazine as a BX-1 just to confuse their customers.
Would be kind of cool, I guess, if the BX-25 would fit and feed in a 77/22!

I bought a 77/22 a couple of years ago off GB. I paid $400.05 including all the shipping and transfers. Mine was built in 1984 IIRC and has open sights on it. It also came with a cheap Bushnell 4X straight tube scope.
I use 10/22 mags in mine sometimes and they work fine. I think the reason for the different catalog numbers is because the 77/22 mag fits flush with the stock and the 10/22 mags stick out a little at the front edge of the mag.
I print off targets that have one inch squares on them. At 50 yards I can keep all 10 shots in the one inch square with half of the square unshot. Thats with Federal bulk 550 packs.
My 77/22 is about the only 22 rifle I shoot anymore. My accuracy fell off after a little over 400 rounds. I ran a brush through the bore and pushed a wad of fouling out and it went right back to grouping. I have heard people say you don't have to clean a 22 I don't buy it.

No offense intended, but the OP and I said "pretty nice," not "pretty accurate" or "pretty reliable." In other words, not some of the recommended examples, though the OP seems to agree with a Savage. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.
