I'm looking for a target rifle with longer range then a 308 win.

Does anybody have any experience with bolt-action long range rifles in 338 lapua?
Wath is the difference with 338 win mag?

greetings

Peter

Sako TRG 42 is a good choice. Not the cheapest, but offers excellent value for money. What I like is that the weight of the rifle system is not much greater than similar 7,62 cal setup.

Rifle, good scope and good ammo means effective range of 1000 to 1500 meters (I have had the TRG42/Zeiss grouping under the head size at 700 meters). Though, Brits got couple of hits at 2.5 clicks (2475 m IIRC) in Afghanistan, but they have the Accuracy International rifle, the best there is, and twice the price of TRG.

Remington offers one out of their custom shop.

Savage may have one as well.

338 Lapua has more powder capacity than 338 Win Mag. It is on par with 338 RUM and 338-378 Weatherby.

Greetings to Belgium!

Here in the USA, 338 Lapua mag ammo runs $5/round and more, while 300 Winchester Mag (a somewhat smaller cartridge but still capable of 1200+ yards/meters) can be found for $2 or less per round. I would look seriously at that option before jumping into the price of a 338 Lapua.

Price no object, Accuracy Intl AW or perhaps the Sako TRG would be great. At somewhat lower price, the Armalite AR-30 is available in 338 Lapua as well as 300 Winchester mag, assuming it's available in Belgium at all.
