Bolt release not working Rem model 7

I have a Rem Model 7 with the X mark pro and lately the bolt release button by the trigger doesn't depress enough to allow me to remove the bolt. It has been hard to press before but now nothing......
I tried unscrewing the 2 screws that hold the trigger assembly etc to the stock but still nothing. Any thoughts?

If it worked at one time, but not properly, it sounds like you need to call Remington.
