Hello All,
I want to store an extra bolt and a couple batteries in a Magpul grip on an AR style rifle. I am thinking I'll liberally apply oil to the bolt and throw it into a ziplock bag then keep the batteries in separate ziplock bags and stuff them inside the grip.

Anyone have any suggestions, concerns or improvements they'd like to share?

Thanks!

I would say not really needed. Even in the military we did not carry extra parts for rifles. A broken firing pin or bolt is pretty rare as long as proper maintenance is followed, as with any firearm. The only real useful reason to carry an extra bolt this way is for a caliber conversion rifle.

But anyway, depending on which Magpul grip you have, they do make an insert for a firing pin to fit the grip. If you have a titanium firing pin (which I believe most ARs do) the oil isn't really needed to prevent rust. Batteries are good to have on hand. Even in a standard AR grip you can fit 2 CR123 batteries in a bag with some electricians tape over the bottom hole. Not very pretty or tacticool but it works.
