...Jeff Cooper's Principles of Personal Defense (2006 edition). Be aware that there are two older editions floating around, and that all dead tree versions are going for $35 to $45.
ABSOLUTELY NOT, if the question is about carrying.
Regarding the book, that's a personal decision.
I'm a new shooter, and in my state, it is virtually impossible to get a permit to CCW. Would you recommend the book anyway?
For that matter there are a few other books out there that more broadly apply to use of lethal force and which do not specifically emphasize CCW tactics. Stuff by Massad Ayoob, for example.
Hell, with all that stuff you don’t need to carry a gun. Just beat the crap out of ‘em and go about your business.I just ordered Ayoob's Deadly Force book! Looking forward to reading it.
Agreed that situational awareness is very, very important. I practiced Sil Lum Hung Gar Kung Fu, Ji Jitsu and Aikido for almost a decade, and those were enforced during that training. Sounds like I really should pick up the CCW book. Thanks!
My copy arrived three days ago; I am six chapters in, and really like it.
Based on Tom's very strong recommendation, I tracked down online Jeff Cooper's Principles of Personal Defense (2006 edition). Be aware that there are two older editions floating around, and that all dead tree versions are going for $35 to $45. Make sure you really want it on paper pages before ordering, because you may be disappointed in paying that much for what is pretty much a ~20 page pamphlet.
But, you can buy a Kindle version from Amazon or a Nook (epub) version from Barnes & Noble for $8.50. It is a good, straightforward read, and worth the small amount of time to complete it.
