What are some good books on gunsmithing the AR? I'm about to receive my first AR (S&W optics ready carbine) and plan to change the forend, sights and all the furniture and would like a little guidance. Right now I'm looking at two, "The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide" by Walter Kuleck and "Build Your Own AR-15" by Duncan Long.

Can't tell you how good it is, but I just today ordered Patrick Sweeney's Gunsmithing The AR-15.
I thumbed through it at a bookstore, but bought mostly because I had previously purchased his Gun Digest Book of The AR-15, Vols. I & II.

If you haven't already, check out the Build it Yourself section on AR15.com. Tons of useful step by step instructions with pictures. A whole lot of people have built ARs with just that as a guide.

Zedicker has a new "Complete Build" book in his series of AR-15 manuals. If you can take his writing style - lame attempts at humor and long-winded digressions - the books are typically packed with good information. Because of the style, I find them difficult to read but always worthwhile.
