Can anyone recommend an inexpensive 9mm and .40 bore sighter they've had good experience with?

I have used the Sweany and a couple of the laser types and they work OK. However, I have not done a lot of work with handguns, as most of the boresighters are designed to work with a scope. There is an Alpec laser bore sighter that is made for handguns as well as rifles, but it is fairly salty at $149 per caliber (it fits in the chamber like a cartridge).

For most handgun use, it is easier and cheaper to adjust the sights by shooting than by buying a boresighter.

I agree - at 7 yards - it's simpler to just aim, shoot and adjust. It's at rifle distances that ya need that laser bore sighter...

My KT PF-9 POI seems to be 2" left at 25' even from a bench rest with the rear sight maxed out to the right side. I'm looking for an inexpensive bore sighter just to confirm it's the pistol and not me before I send it back for service.

Just find a good shooter on the range and let them try it - laser boresighters are not worth it at handgun distances unless U are going past 7-10 yards, IMHO.
