Bought a new Ruger LCR in 9 mm... any questions?

Ruger responded to my follow-up inquiry about the groove diameter:

"The measurements are .3560-.3580. Thank you for your email."

Oh well...

I'm not sure what they're indicating there, the diameter in the grove and the diameter in the field or a range of values that any particular LCR might have for its bore diameter.

By contrast, the Alfa Proj 9231 is .34724" in the field and .35512" in the groove.

Either way - the Ruger sounds like it has a larger diameter bore than the Alfa Proj.

Yes, it does, doesn't it. Well, mine measured .355 on that Midway caliper. I'd verify that slug with a picture but have melted it down to cast some more already. I am pleased with the groupings I've had from her though. It is consistent, that's for sure.

I'm also rethinking the load I will carry. I prefer a heavier load that won't over-penetrate but what I'm finding as a recommended load, (by consensus on the forums), is the Federal 115 gr. JHP, (catalog# C9BP). Went to Federal's site, (notice the trajectory graph under 'Average Range'). The 115's do group higher on my POA too. So, maybe a bit further out, say 15 yards, it'll be dead on. I'll have to wait for the snow to melt before taking it out for another trial with 115 grain rounds.

Supposed to be ~.355", yes. The question / issue is, did Ruger try to save money by not re-tooling & making them all with .357" barrels that they use for all the other LCRs..?

Reference Post# 54....

Still no word from Ruger. Guess POA isn't a priority.

horsemen61.... Do let me know your thoughts about it when you pick it up. I'm curious as to what others are feeding their 9mm revolvers for self-defense. :scrutiny:

That round won't be an option for me. I'd simply carry my Sig P238, (.380), then. Much thinner. If I choose the LCR it will be for the increase in ft. lbs. of the round. I can easily see where that round may be an option for others though and I appreciate you mentioning it.

My 9mm defensive round of choice is the 147gr Winchester RA9T, and I am interested in the LCR but I still wonder how those rounds hold together under recoil in the LCR.
