I just bought my first 1911 type pistol aqnd I thought I'd share it with everyone.

I bought the Taurus PT1911 AR from a local person (aloharover) that I found on this website.
www.ShadowRiverProductions.com

We ralked a few times on the phone and we met at a local Gun Show, after talking with Pete I went ahead and had him order me one of the New Taurus PT1911 AR .45 Pistol's.
I'd been looking at the Taurus PT1911 for awhile and knew the price's Shop's were asking for them (Local staore's,Online store's and person's) And Pete gave me the best price of all of them,so I saked him to oder it and gave him a down payment for it.Pete didn't want the money up front but i gave him some anyways.

Well here is what I got......These are right after I got home from the range,Not even cleaned yet.

While I was there there was ALOT of people there with 1911 type Pistol's from Kimber,Para Ordinance,Wilson's,Springfield's and Rock Island.
So there was alot to put the Gun up against and alot of people to shoot/Try it out and for me to try.
Let's just put it this way....The only Bad thing that was said about the Pistol was that it was a "Taurus" and a few were Ticked off when they asked how much it cost compared to there's.
The gun is also bead on target out of the box.

Anyways AI wanted to share my New Pistol and to let everyone know that I'm very happy with the service that I got and am still getting from Pete at:
(aloharover) that I found on this website.

I've also seen a few of the Gun's he is biulding for some local guy's and they are nice.

I did Good with it...better then me with my Sig.

I do need to move the site a very little "for me" but it was dead on for everyone else...I have to have all my Pistol site's moved just alittle.

This is also the Gun that's now beside my Bed.... ;)

Glad you did well with it. It's an HD classic.

(and remember: those 1911s are addicting...):D

Have an acquantance who is a nationally-respected 1911'smith. He recently performed a thorough tuning of a close friend's Taurus 1911. After a detailed going-over, this guy who has fluffed & buffed hundreds (if not thousands) of 1911 designs from every possible manufacturer...said the Taurus 1911 was a very well-built, well-executed example of the beloved classic. That's plenty good enough for me. Congrats on your new pistol!

I just read an article on that gun by Clint Smith in American Handgunner. 5000 rounds without a malfunction. That's amazing for a 1911 in that price range. I think it cost me that much just to get my Series 80 to be reliable!

The pictures on my screen show a gold colored gun. Is that really the color?

No,It's just the light....It is black.

I'll try to take another where it show's the color better and post it.

I bought a Box of 250rds of UMC and fired it the first day and it didn't have any problems at all.

I plan to make a trip down to Larry and Sandy Ashcraft's house and let Larry "Run it through the Paces" and see what he has to say....:what:

Awesome!

Chris,

That is a very nice gun! I own several Taurus 24/7's so it does not suprise me that you received a high quality gun, at a low price. I have heard so many good things about the Taurus 1911. I am waiting for the stainless version to come out. Right now I am banned from buying guns. I really strained the budget when I bought five guns in a three month period. Whoops:eek: Cabela's should have NEVER given me that credit card-The card keeps saying- "buy another gun" It is the only card that my wife cannot see online too:rolleyes:
I Hope you Enjoy Your gun!

The Best to You and Yours!

Frank

I like mine a lot. My sights were way out of whack out of the box though. Once adjusted, it shoots very nicely.
