I've been trying to get my wife into the idea of carrying a gun, but she's a slave to fashion and has always complained that all my guns are "Too bulky to carry without dressing frumpy" (yes, she complains about how I dress as well).

I stumbled across a good deal on a Kel-Tec P3AT over on Glock Talk so I bought it for her.

She was honestly surprised and pleased with the little gun ... we haven't shot it yet, but she's already pretty excited about it (we hope to be able to go to the range Sunday, but the weather may not cooperate).

Since this is her gun, she wanted to have a range bag of her own and while shopping tonite she found the "perfect little range bag".

I guess what I'm saying is, guys... if you want to get your lady interested in guns, be sure to point out that they can accessorize (that and there's some shopping involved)

Here's her new range bag and all the goodies that go in it :D

Has your wife shot your Steyr 9mm? I'm curious has to how she felt and about the Steyr and how she will feel about the p3at. I figure if my wife would every carry anything it would be something like the Keltec.

BTW there is something not right about the range bag. :scrutiny: :D

Both my Steyrs are .40s ... she's shot the M40 and likes shooting it and shoots it pretty darn well.

Her favorite pistol was stevesmith7's BHP (so eventualy I think thats what I'll get here).

Her issue is not with the shooting of the guns, she's fine with pretty much anything you hand her. Her problem is with the carrying.

Sure I wish she'd carry something more powerful, but I can't afford a Rohrbaugh :p

On a side note, now we have 3 types of 9mm, (9x17, 9x18 and 9x19), a couple of .40s, an 8mm Mauser, a 16ga shottie and an AR-15.

This new 9x17 is by far the most expensive gun I've got to feed :scrutiny:

I had a holster custom made for my wife. It has a gromet at the front that I passed a split ring through, and attach it to one of the mounting points of the purse strap. It also has a retention strap.

I highly recommend making a grip sleeve for the P3AT, as it will tame a bit of the recoil.

If your wife plans on firing more than a couple of magazine each time, you might want to consider installing an extension on the extra magazine. see http://1bad69.com/keltec/p3at-fingerrest.htm

My says it helps with control by not letting her hand slip should she tire a bit. Both the NAA and Bersa are pictured below on P-3AT magazines.

Hi guys,

From the mindset of 'the wife' I have a couple of thoughts on this...

First, Zundfolge, you rock. I love the way you took care of your Mrs and indulged her fashion sense on the range bag.

Flashpoint, I totally understand but from a female point of view its acceptable :p

Gazpacho, I like your ingenuity. My big complaint to my husband has always been where and how to carry it where it isn't cumbersome. I will have to show him your post.

Wilson 17&26 & others, I enjoy hearing what would be considered acceptible for the wives or ladies in your life to carry. I used to carry a Colt .380 way back when but didn't have great control. Its a fine line for me as to too light to aim and too heavy to aim.

Great Thread! :)

yesterdaysyouth, she was kinda disapointed that it wasn't pink ... I told her that they only made the P32 in pink.

anyone know if you can use a P32 grip on a P3AT?

This P-32 was DuraCoated to match a powder blue color chip my wife liked.

The P-32 grip (no it wont fit a P-3AT) comes in Ivory and you can dye the Polymer grip (Flyer Rit method) through and through to almost any color you like but the shade can be off depending on boiling time. That’s the reason my wife went with DuraCoat on this P-32.

Unfortunately, the P-3AT grip’s lightest color is gray which means no light colors are possible. I have seen one P-3AT in a nice maroon. It started as gray then dyed with sunshine orange dye.
