Bouncing bullets off water on purpose

I just saw a film clip showing a Javelin missile in flight that skipped off of water and then hit an Iraqi tank. It was pretty wild.

Just saw it again. It wasn't Javelin but either a HOT or Milan missile. It was fired from a Brit track. Still a cool clip, though.

Yeah - I just saw that - it was an awsome clip.
Real straight too. You'd think it would take the fins off and start to veer off or tumble after a bit - good thing it was close to target.
Guess the water was deeper than it looked - seem to still have fins intact till contact.

OK, saw it again. It looks like a Warrior IFV firing a TOW missile. It really was a cool clip.

One Saturday morning years ago, I was helping my brother put up rafters on his new house near Waxahachie when some teenagers started shooting .22s on the far side of an adjacent private lake. The rounds were evidently skipping off the water around 400 yards away and zinging all around us - mostly over our heads, but we did not stay on roof very long. Good time to take a break - and call 911. Idiots!

Or, perhaps, in just what locality it took place?

Maybe you remember there the FBI agent was stationed.

Something like that must have gotten a LOT of publicity at the time, and shouldn't be difficult to search out, given the resources of the internet.

Please, share with us SOME authority on this "sad story to prove it."
