I recently picked up a like new SW99 in .45. I love the gun but have noticed that the captured spring guide rod assembly (a fluted polymer rod) bows significantly when the assembly is put into place (and yes, it's in the right slots). Then, when the gun is disassembled, the assembly will just fall out. I know with some guns once the slide is racked the guide rod assembly will come free. That isn't the case with my P99. Is this normally the case with the SW99? Is the bowing of the rod (and springs) a concern? Does anyone make a steel recoil rod assembly for this gun, preferably with a captured spring? Everything seems to be for the 9mm and .40.
