At the local gun show today- looking for a good quality, all-steel semi auto; came across what I thought was an EAA witness. The seller said it was as I described, an EAA Witness with a competition slide on it. The slide had "p9 psp" on the side, and the frame had the name "Tanfoglio" on it. I bought it, ($350) came home, and started the Google process to see what kind of "competition" top it had on it:D- finally figured out (I think) it was associated with or marketed by Springfield, although it doesn't have the Springfield name anywhere on it that I can find:what:. Based on my research today, I am not disappointed; I like the feel of the gun and believe the platform to be a good one (CZ, EAA, Jericho, etc), and have read a lot of positive comments about the gun.

My question is about magazines; can someone give me a quick primer on what magazines will work in this gun? (40 s&w by the way)

Thanks!

Springfield marketed the P9 series in the early 90s. I had the P9C sub compact in 40 S&W. They were made by Tangfoglio. Afer Springfield orphaned the pistol, I was able to buy replacement/repair parts from EAA, importers of Tangfoglio pistols at the time.

Maybe look in that direction.

You essentially bought an EAA Witness, since the Witness is made by Tanfoglio.

Tanfoglio has built many MANY series of firearms based on the CZ75, everything from the current crop of EAA Witness to the Israeli Jericho (and the MRI BDE - a licensed copy [of a licensed copy of a copy???])... so I'd say its probably good to go.

Saw a Springfield P9 in a used showcase the other day.

Bi-tone, competition upper (appeared to be stainless).

They wanted well over $600 for it.

You've got a nice gun. Enjoy it.
