anyone here have a boyds stock for savage axis? im looking at getting on for my axis 2 heavy barrel and just looking for some advice.

how's the inletting on them? any issues down the road?

I have to say seeing some people on other forums having shipping problems has me worried.

What kind of issues? I've bought three Boyds stocks in the last two months, and had no issues with shipping or the stocks themselves.

there was a couple issues with guys on other forums where it took like 3 months to send the stocks or the wrong stock was sent and couldn't get ahold of boyds.

I seen a few saying the heavy barrel channel needed opened up a bit.

Across the last decade, I've probably ordered three dozen Boyds stocks for various projects. Most 'standard' stocks were delivered within two weeks after placing an order; custom orders took about four weeks from order to receipt. Not one was incorrect in terms of fit. One had a minor finish blemish that was too trivial to mention, and the rest were exactly as expected.

what stock would you guys suggest for a 223 heavy barrel for a varmint gun?

I bought one a while back and it needed some finishing touches around the trigger group of my Savage 11. Still, a nice laminate for $100 is hard to beat.

I ordered a Boyd's stock a couple weeks ago, it came in after about 8 days as described in their advertising and fit my Rem 700 just fine. I had my gunsmith install pillars and bed the action, he had no issues with the quality or workmanship on the stock. He did have to mill out the barrel channel a bit in the area near the action but I could have done that small amount of work with some sandpaper wrapped around a wood dowel. I'm sure there have been some problems with Boyd's in the past and there will probably be problems in the future but what company anywhere has an absolutely perfect record? I know people who had problems with expensive stocks from the big name custom shops.

Never had a problem with Boyds. They are a inexpensive stock made to average dimensions for a specific firearm. Have had to do some minor fitting from time to time. Good value for the money. All have held up well.

Love my stock for my 25-06 axis 1. Fitment was pretty good off the bat but I did a JB weld bedding job and now the rifle will hold .75 moa all day.

I do not remember the color but it's the Parie hunter model.
