For almost a year I have been one of the regular pro-rights posters on the Brady Campaign blog. Since they started the blog we have been able to disprove their lies, point their dishonesty and dodge their numerous ad hominem attacks. It appears that we finally won a victory over them, driving the final nail into their blog comments section.

This came following a short series of 3 threads where they questioned the pro-rights side's ability to engage in "reasoned discourse." In these 3 threads, Paul Helmke accused us of not being able to engage in "reasoned discourse" based only on 2 comments they captured in a moderation queue (captured posts that never made actually it to the blog comments section) and an office fax they received.

It is also worth noting that 2 of the 3 people that wrote these posts/fax haven't posted any other comments on the blog, so they could hardly represent actually posters on the blog. Ironically though, the BC over looked hundreds of posts freely available by repeat posters (which can be see in the archives) where we responded to the very few anti-gun posters with cited facts and logic. They also completely ignored the numerous ad hominem attacks made by anti-gun poster Kelli (such as calling me a creep and questioning my academic honesty) in order to dodge valid requests for proof of statements she had made.

Once again, we see all this as an admission of their defeat (much like a whiny little fat kid that "takes his ball and goes home" when things aren't going his way).

Poor sports often grow up to be leftist extremists: they're still losers, but they can blame Bush.

Well they will probably create a blog or forum that requires logins and if you are too pro gun and or proving them wrong they will give you DAS BOOT!
I just joined up on there the other week and they were already requiring a login/registration to post there.

Yup. I posted there semi-regularly and they already required logins and passwords. They got tired of us spanking 'em in the comments section and completely closed it down.

Mature, huh?

In the early days they didn't require a login. Then, someone used Kelli's husband's nickname to say something bad/mean about her (post #443, "What are gun-pushers trying to hide" thread) and then they both started to cry "identity theft" (no really, I'm serious... read Post #449). Not long after this the BC started requiring signing up to log in. Also, in the early days they didn't have a comment limit. But, after a few blogs that reached 500+ comments they reduced the limit to 200 posts.

BC, "What are gun-pushers trying to hide" thread:

It is worth noting that this was one of the few actual accounts of people on the pro-rights side acting non highroad like. By far, Kelli has engaged mostly in her own ad hominems, while we are responded with highroad like uses of facts and logic.

I had just started posting there! I guess when you are faced with fact, reason, and common sense, over and over again; they just couldn't take it anymore. :)

I'm actually surprised that it took them this long. I was genuinely confused as to why they would let commenters absolutely pummel them on their own website...

I remember Michael Moore had a forum up after Bowling for Columbine. That same thing happened there. They closed down the forum.

they have to close down their forum

Or they have to admit that they are bigots, what choice do they have?
Reasoned debate is pretty much dead, the left hates debate.
They do so much better with the big lie.

I think they got mad, and really embarassed when pro-gunners started talking to eachother about their gun collections, and this .45 pistol vs. that .45 pistol. It was starting to look like THR.

Then there was Kelli, having a nervous breakdown every time someone asked her to cite a source. I think she proved to be a daily embarassment for them lately.

What do you guys think they're doing over there, trying to think of a way to keep us out?

I never posted there, but enjoyed watching them squirm. I'm ashamed of myself.

They can't debate their way out of a paper bag, or even into one probably...
but they can express their emotions with the best five year-olds.

It reminds me of a short story about a group of frogs (told from the frogs' perspective) and the boy that would come down each morning and shoot at them with his .22. The frogs weren't mad at all, in fact they truely loved the boy--he was the only one who ever came to visit them.

"They will probably disable comments altogether."

They could, but a blog with no comments is just a waste of time and money. Not, mind you, that such isn't the case now.

I saw in another thread on THR, that Carolyn "Barrel Shroud" McCarthy has called them "impotent". They are currently talking McCarthy up on their website, which is kind of funny.

If I were them, I'd moderate comments--but I'd only let through pro-2A comments from raving nutters. Reasoned argument? Reject! Threatening posts in bad English? Accept!

YUP!

like to think Eric Cartman is much more mature than the Brady Campaign

Thats right the brady bunch is motivated by fear an nanystatism. At least Cartman is only motivated by money and Cheezy Poofs.:p

The "far left" has many more people to fear for crimes, any type of crimes, hate crimes to be toward the top, than your average, just left of center, to moderate, to right wing gun owner. The BC is full of the far left. You see, they think you see things as they do, they think you feel as they feel, and if any of them have guns, they can actually feel the fear that comes within them from what they may or may not do with them. The responsibility is too much. They feel they can't make responsible decisions. To them, there's no such thing as a smart, rational, mature, responsible, good decision making gun owner. So, all us gun owners are people to be feared, through their eyes, because they can't comprehend anything else.
