didnt mention small refridgerator for the beer

Now on the serious side where did you get the second mortage from to buy all of that?

Ok now no more jokes if I may ask what is the final bill on all of that?

lol no beer for me only 18 espically while reloading.

as far as a total came out to around 1900

as far as where i got the money just being smart with money and not being a typical teen

Handloading manual.
Manuals, plural.
All available free powder company data.
(You may have to dig for load data for new and odd calibers like .458 Socom and 6.8 SPC.)

Wow... thats a lot of money for a first reloading setup. I got my press and dies for a lot lot lot lot less. I would spend about 35-40 dollars to add another caliber to the mix. $75.00 for the press, $30 for accessories (trimming), $40 x 5 for the calibers....

BUT... if you want to dive in to reloading with some great equipment from the get - go, then you've got a nice setup. Just keep in mind that the components will get costly very fast. So if you are burning all of your money allocated to 'reloading' then you will have all this nice equipement and no primers, powders, brass, or bullets to feed it. With a wide variety of calibers, you may need one powder for each... which is also expensive. For example I reload for .308 win, .30-06, and 7.5 swiss (and others) but they all use the same powders, primers, and bullets.

Components are costly.... just keep that in mind.

All that said, welcome to reloading and have fun with your new equipment! You make me jealous with all that nice gear!

:neener: dillon for me i used my dads hornady didn't like it i couldn't place y though

my ar's arnt even built yet

so i have time to buy this and build money up for componets

everything will be purchased febuary or march.

i have the funds to buy i just want to wait till after i move and register my sbr lowers and such

LOOKS GOOD, BUT I BET THE HORNADY GUYS HAVE OUT THRERE CALCULATORS AND WILL SOON BE CHIMMING IN ON HOW MUCH YOU COULD SAVE IF YOU WENT "RED".

JUST KIDING

Hey that's not funny I resemble those remarks. heck hotwheelz I was so stuck on red I had to buy a thumler tumbler
I have a LNL but heck if I had the cash. out of both at this time it would be what I could find on these sites and e-bay. You say you haven't bought yet but have the cash I would look at all the forums and pick a lot of the stuff you have listed over time till you move and then purchase the rest when your ready. I would go with what was said before multi manuals get one now read it then ask and read again.

as for hotwheelz comment, I am a hornady user, but while you could save some, since the get loaded offer is ending in a few days, that takes out a significant chunk of savings in it. Also, he'd probably want 2 powder measures with micrometer inserts, one in pistol one in rifle. He'd need a whole lot of bushings, a few shell plates. I'm not going to bother breaking out the calculator, but I'd doubt that it would be much if he got some bells and whistles with it too like on his proposed setup. The real advantage though is that you can upgrade an LNL to a rifle and pistol casefeeding progressive, whereas the 550 can only have a casefeeder for pistol.

i dont like the idea of the automatic case feeders and bullet feeders.

i rather do that part and be in complete control

Eh, they're just another tool to get the job done easier. It requires maintenance and an understanding of how it works and what could go wrong. With a bullet feeder, you still have to look at the case to make sure it has powder. Other than that, no attention needs to be at that station. As for the case feeder, as long as the brass you have has been sorted, and it's assured that there's no media left in it from cleaning, they just speed up the process.

If you don't like the Hornady and you're going Dillon, be aware that with the 550, you're only getting a 25% improvement on production when you add the casefeeder and only with pistol. In addition, Dillon's powder measures are not as accurate at the Hornady's with typical rifle powders. I see you're not afraid to buy different brands, so were I you, I'd go with a 650, not a 550 and add a couple Hornady powder measures to the mix for your rifle sestups. That way, should you choose to add the casefeeder to increase production, you'll get the greatest benefit out of it. And at your age, I suspect you will be shooting enough to want the casefeeder soon enough.

How do I know this? I have a son just a year or two older than you and he's heavy into shooting his AR in competition now. He's cranking out the rounds and shooting at least one match a weekend when there's one available.

Regards,

Dave

Some thoughts on trimmers

I am not sure, but I believe you are only going to be trimming two of those calibers, .223 and 6.8mm. Trimming is the most stultifying part of rifle loading.

Regarding the RCBS Trim Pro Power Case Trimmer Kit, my impression is that they do not have a lot of torque, and stall out. As alternatives, can I suggest a Manual trimmer with a power takeoff to allow a hand drill to power it, or the Dillon/Gracey/Giraud.

If you are going to be doing thousands of cases at a time, you should seriously be considering the Dillon, Gracey or Giraud.

I don't believe RCBS makes a manual trimmer any more, and Forster is easy for me to find:

The Forster manual trimmer:

The power take-off to allow a hand-drill to power the above:

Pilots and collets for .223 and 6.8 (same head size as .30 Remington?):http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=430184&t=11082005

The only bad thing I found about using the Forster is their allen lock screws are miserable, and one should immediately replace all of them with ones gotten at a hardware store. Also, if you choose the Forster and are only trimming two calibers, you might want to get a spare cutter shaft, power take-off and lock ring so you haveone for each caliber, so you are not constantly re-adjusting to the same measurements. The shafts are available at Midway, but the lock rings seem to only be available from Forster directly.

Take a look at RCBS's web site look at a site that sells reloading equipment (midway, midsouth, graffs, LSB,Cabelas) They all still list the the RCBS case trimmer without the power. As far as the power pro not having torque if you set it up to short the first time say goodbye to that piece of brass cause it will eat it. I have trimmed thousands of rounds on the power pro even useing a 3-way cutter and have never stalled it out.

Lets look at the inconsistencies F3RR3T has been putting on TFL
F3RR3T has posted the following in his short history:
ok i am about to build 3 different ar's to take care of all my gun needs except my shotguns pistols etc
here is what i was thinking
1. home defense sbr 7.5 to 10.5 inch barrel un-suppressed= 45acp
2. just a kill some ammo plinker= 22lr
3. varmints/small game .223
4. deer/hog and other large game = 6.8 spc or .243WSSM
btw i can not have a pistol due to the fact that i am only 18
well i have found a few pistols that i would like to add to my gun collection. a beretta px4 9mm and a colt combat commander in 38 super.
i have some i own but my dad is holding them currently.
ruger mark 2
beretta px4
colt combat commander
glock g33
And now this post showing more abuse of sense and centsability.
Does anyone else smell troll??????

ok the px4 and colt were bought and added to "my collection seeing that i can own a handgun at 18 "this was brought to my attention by a member on another board"

i apologize i do not find the need to backtrack and edit all my post.

if you do not like what is in my threads u are welcome to move on.

have a good day and a happy new year.

Just to let you know hornady is extending the free bullets till end of 2008!!!:):)

thats a killer deal. seeing that i was going to use the v-max for .223

Fantasy List. Pretty cool.

Too bad so many people putting in so much time in advisement, as though it were a real inquiry.
