....when I feel my life (or a member of my family's life) is threatened... having no other choice I will draw my weapon... planning to use it, not deter someone's behavior...using deadly force to resolve the threat to me (or my family member).
I was raised in Chicago, which had plenty of city gangs in the 70s (Vice Lords, Latin Kings, Gaylords, The Popes...gangs of all cultures...).
I learned a lot about how to act on a potentially hostile street.
Don't draw attention to yourself. Don't speak unless spoken to. Be aware of your surroundings at all times and be prepared to act. Don't try to make eye contact. Don't act intimidated.
If confronted, be prepared to consider the odds and weigh your alternatives.
