Brazilian CBC Import to FIE Miami Single Shot

Totally on impulse, I bought a single shot 12 gauge shotgun today. It is a FIE Miami import from the Brazilian company of CBC, which also manufactures Magtech ammo (good stuff).

The piece is unused, but it is several years old. It seems well made. It points superbly and is very well balanced. It is light and swings well. The foregrip is flat on the bottom and then flares making for a good purchase. The wood seems unmarred and is almost pretty, and there appears to be, inlayed ivory in the stock - maybe it is just off white plastic. The steel is blued.

It has a unique foretrigger lever to break the gun, that can be done one handed. The trigger is very good.

I am at a loss to explain this gun. I bought it for 90 dollars. It seems much nicer than that.

Searching the THR and TFL sites I find little. Searching the internet I find even less.

Does anyone know anything more about these shotguns? For 90 bucks I didn't think I could go wrong. It will look 90 bucks good, on a rack, on a wall, even if I never shoot it.

I have one that was given to me by my uncle about 3 years ago. It's also unfired as my 870 and 395 (cousin to TUSGIHC) get all my attention.You don't see many CBC's around these parts either. MagTech still sells a version of that gun with a Model no.100. Might be 101, I'm not sure.
In the 70's the S.S.Kresge Co. sold the same gun with a different model number and stamped scroll work/engraving on the sides of the receiver. If you do a search on gunbroker or auction arms you can find them listed once in a while. Use search terms like "Brazil" or "Kresge".
Another feature on the CBC that I like is the take down feature. If you are not familiar with it, try this:
With the gun pointed in a safe direction (easier when pointed upwards) grab the forend and pull the front of it away from the barrel. Its held on by a spring loaded lock only. After the forend is separated, push the barrel release on the front of the trigger guard and the barrel will come off the receiver.

Does anyone have any history on these guns?

I was given one today that my late uncle left behind when he passed away last year. It was given to me by his neice as a keepsake.

I'm not interested in value, but the history.

When they were made, when they stopped making them, etc...

Thanks in advance and I agree, it seems to be a well made gun with a sweet trigger to be a single shot. Mine has a 28" barrel, 2 3/4" only, Full Choke...

The gun is still made for domestic consumption and it is available is several other countries as well.
No importer is currently bringing it into the U.S.

These are decent single barrel guns, just no market for a single shot that would probably retail for about $175.00 when there are pumpguns available for around $200.00

I can remember these guns being available on the U.S. market from at least 1980 to 1990.

Magtech model 151 but according to my books was only imported by them in the early 90's for a year or 2. F.I.E. stopped importing them in mid 80's. F.I.E. model SB. I agree it is hard to explain this gun to someone that has not seen one. I have the CBC F.I.E in 20 ga. with the rolled engraving. My first shotgun when I was 12 or so. Back then I think they went for around $60 new. The wood they use looks really nice. I like the forearm, very similar in shape to some target rifles. I recently found a .410 but passed so my uncle could get it. $90 is on the higher side but if its mint you did good. I would have more if only I could find them.

Mine has the rolled engraving on the side as well.

Neat little gun. It being a full-choked 12ga. it should make a dandy squirrel/rabbit or dove gun..

I prefer my 1100 for doves, but this will a neat lil' shooter I think.

About three weeks ago I bought a .410 shotgun from Cabela's that was made in Brazil and imported by fie.I really surprised at the quality and condition.
Yesterday I went back to buy a cleaning kit and of course, I had to look at the guns. Lo and behold there was a Stevens 16 gauge double barrel just like the first gun I ever owned!
Of course I bought it. I only wish they had had it when I bought the .410. Now I don't need the .410.

Brad, I've got the same CBC model SB without the ivory inlay. I got the gun for my 14 th or 15th Christmas, cant remember now which. I'm 53 now so they have been around for a while. So mines going on 40 years old and it still shot great, the last time I shot it! Good buy for 90.00

I have one too. Really lover the under-lever design. Always wanted them to bring it out as a break open single shot rifle? I had two - one 12GA and one 20GA. Sold the 20 - just have the 12 now. Excellent shooter

The trigger guard lever opening feature isn't unique either.
The Savage 94SB introduced this feature, the Brazilians just copied it.
The Savage is a much better made single gun too.

I have had my single shot Brazilian CBC import .410 break barrel for a long time now. It was my first gun. I rarely use it because I have 7 other guns who's ammo is relatively cheaper. The quick barrel removal feature is curious to me. I'n prior posts you have all had other gauges of this gun. Is it possible to replace the barrel with a different gauge still using the original stock, pin and trigger assembly? On my rifle, where the .410 barrel meets the trigger/pin assembly, it looks like a larger barrel could be attached. If anyone has done this or knows its possible, please let me know. It would be nice to have multiple barrels to play with.

I have a 20 gauge cbc model sb I bought at a Harts store when I was 7 or 8 (I was with my dad, he helped) for I think around $80. I've only run a half dozen shells through it. I remember it kicked like a mule but it was 20 years ago when I last shot it squirrel hunting. I never did hit anything but my dad took out a couple. I've shown it to a few people and they all seem to think it's a nice gun. Mine just has a flat black finish on the metal, no designs which most being sold online seem to have. Do they still make recoil pads for these?

I own two, a 12 and a 20. They are really nice in the field IF you are comfortable with a single shot. I love them and wished they would take the same action and do a "Handi-Rifle" with some centerfire rifle rounds - say 22 Hornet, 223, 243, etc. I'd much rather have a single shot built on this action than say a Ruger No1. These are fine guns for what they are

Well, keep an eye out cause they DO do different caliber barrels....this is one I just put a deposit on down here in Sydney Oz....22H/410
It's on lay-by (or Lay away I think you guys call it). Can't wait to get my greedy little hands on it. It's in excellent condition!
Oh, btw.....not quite as cheap as you guys get them over there....I paid AUD$425 for this one.
