SAO PAULO, Brazil — A woman was released from the hospital a day after she was shot in the head six times in an attack police blamed on her ex-husband, Brazilian media reported Saturday.

Patricia Goncalves Pereira, a 21-year-old housewife, was shot Friday after an altercation with her ex-husband, who was upset because she refused to get back together with him, Globo TV reported.

"I know this was a miracle," Pereira told the TV network. "Now I just want to extract the bullets and live my life."

Doctors could not explain how Pereira survived the attack. The .32-caliber bullets didn't break through her skull and didn't even need to be immediately extracted, doctors said. Pereira also was shot once in the hand.

Police said the ex-husband was still at large, Globo TV reported.

Damn 6 times, I'd probably die from a paper cut.......

Hmm it really had to be some devine intervention or really really really bad ammo or she got a vicious mutant skull from swimming in one of those desease infested rivers in Brazil.

Well, one more reason to carry bigger calibers.

Seems like a clear indication as to whether or not the .32 is a sufficient self defense caliber!

Beulah, my second Mother-in-Law, could easily survive such wounds. It'll take a wooden stake to end her existance.
Must be related somehow...:scrutiny:

Ah yes the wonderfull .32 !!!...I was watching one of the WWII programs .They showed the top Japanese ace Sakai shaking hands with our Navy gunner who shot him. Sakai was shot through the head and was paralysed on the left side but managed to fly to a base and land . The most incredible flight of his career. ..Some are very lucky indeed !

OUCH!!! That'll leave a mark!:p

All the luck in the world aside, I'm dieing to know what the pistol was loaded with.

The shooter must have been using .32 silvertip hollowpoints.:D
Seriously, I knew a gentleman who had been shot in the forehead with a .32 revolver from about three feet away.
The bullet did not penetrate the frontal plate and exited through his scalp.
This shooting probably involved a .32 short centerfire revolver cartridge but will never be known exactly since the bullet was not recovered and the shooter and his popgun were never apprehended.

At the shot the gentleman dropped like a rock and the shooter thought he killed him outright and took off running.
It wasn't a fatal wound, a cracked skull, some blood loss, and a serious concussion followed and these could have brought on fatal consequences but did not and the recovery was swift.
Regardless this is still considered a one shot stop even though a fatality did not occur.

Lucky her.

BTW, Brazil has extremely oppressive gun laws. They're as bad as or worse than Japan's. Japan's gun laws are so strict that the country's own Olympic shooters must leave the country to practice.
