Yep, locked myself out! The safes batteries went dead and it wont let me in. I Recently moved and the back up/ emergency keys that came with it are nowhere to be found. Tried to call and email Barska for a replacement key several times with no responce and I'm starting to get impatient. I've got some paperwork inside that I need ASAP and the Sawsall is starting to look pretty tempting. Figured I'd post up here and see if anyone had any helpfull adivce before I called a locksmith or did anything drastic.

Were the external keys typical looking keys? If they were, and you're not in a hurry, you can probably pick the lock. I haven't looked, but I will guess there's a lot of information online on the topic of making makeshift picks/tensioning tools and techniques. It may take you a long time the first time.

If the keys were unusual looking then you might as well go ahead and call a locksmith.

If its the round type key I understand you can work a bic pen cap until it fits and you can open it. I heard this before and today my locksmith friend confirmed it. Thats part of the reason I just replaced my cabinet with a regular safe today. My gun vault still has the round key for a backup so I'm not too thrilled about the discovery. I hear also that you can replace those locks too, I may have to look into that.

What kind of lock is it? If it's the Ace tubular lock it takes a special pick (which I have) to open it. The first thing you need to do is update your profile with your location.

Profile updated. Its a tubular lock. I never had to use the back up keys before and im trying to remember if they were even keyed. The picture on the website almost makes it look as if its a generic key (much like a large handcuff key). Looks like this http://www.barska.com/Biometric_Safe-Biometric_Safe_with_Fingerprint_LocK.html
Also if you look close you can clearly make out the codes on the keys in the pic (20557). I have zero experience with this kind of stuff but would it be possible to have a key made from the code???

Not sure about Barska, but my Stack on gun cabinets had a code on the safe itself if you needed new keys made.

If you tried to call today, maybe they are closed for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I've got a small biometric safe and it has an external battery port that you can plug in a 9v battery to provide temporary power, in case the primary battery dies. Perhaps your safe has something similar.
