Is the breech end of custom rifle barrels machined different to fit different brand of actions or are they all the same? I'm looking at a custom 22-250 very heavy bull barrel but the owner doesn't know what it fits. It's cheap though.

'Custom' rifle barrels may be had from their makers as blanks, of full diameter from end to end, and without any machine work done to fit them for any specific action; as contoured blanks with external dimensions machined to a variety of different contours, or as 'pre-fit' barrels, with a shank turned and threaded for a specific action and partially chambered, requiring only final fitting and finish reaming of the chamber.
I'd ask the seller to measure the diameter and length of the current threaded shank (if any) and thread pitch, if you intend to fit the barrel to an action you already have. Alternatively, a very heavy bull barrel is likely long enough to permit removal of any existing shank and re-fitting for your purpose.

That LOOKS like it could be for a single shot, possibly a ruger#1?

Whom evers doing the install could cut the back of the barrel off and re machine to fit your action, then would just have to recut the chamber.....

Id have the barrel looked at before buying it unless its really cheap. That much machine work on it suggest to me that its been installed and could be shot out if itd a 22-250.
