I went out shooting at my dads property on fathers day.
He had his new stainless ruger blackhawk .357 and I had
Spas 12 and a 629 as well as a colt 1903 .380auto
We had some extra bricks and cinder blocks and set them up down range.
.38 specials and .380 would leave a mark on a brick and crack a cinder block.
.357 110 grain JHP would knock pieces off a brick and blow holes in the blocks.
.44 mag 240 grain keith at about 1350 would disintigrate a fresh brick into about 30 pieces and turn a block into 3 shattered pieces.
12 gauge 1 oz slug obliterated all of them into dust.
Made me think about how much protection outside walls really provide.
Are a bunch of bricks mortared together stronger?
Should I think about using a smaller caliber like .380 or .38 special
for home defense?
