Bringing a wheelgun to the sandbox

My understanding is that the two main reasons cited for not allowing personal weapons are ammo and parts: you need to be able to grab a magazine / takedown pin / handful of 9mm from anywhere and know that it'll work. That said, if you were authorized to carry an M9 do you think you could get permission to have a customized 92fs?

If not, are you allowed to upgrade the M9 you're issued with your own parts?

I've sent quite a few Hogue grips and new magazines over along with fresh mag & recoil springs . I doubt you'd want to go much further than that . Not sure what else would realistically be needed ?
The 173rd Abn MP platoon in Afganistan we're presently helping was originally issued CT laser grips . Unfortunately , most are not functional any more . The Army evidently has none to replace them . :scrutiny: I did contact Crimson Trace and they were kind enough to send me a pair of their latest mil-spec M9 grips NC to send to my buddy in the unit . Please support Crimson Trace . :)

I don't think a lot of mods would enhance reliability or performance . imo
