Man spared jail over self-defence knifing
Jan 20 2003

A disabled man has been spared jail after stabbing a man who smashed his car windows.

Instead, Dean Kilworth, aged 21, of Franklin Court, Nuneaton, was given a two-year community rehabilitation order after pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful wounding.

Warwick Crown Court heard how Kilworth's car windows had been smashed by Stephen Glover after the pair got into an argument at the Griff House Hotel in Coventry Road, Nuneaton.

Ian Suggett, prosecuting, told how Kilworth had confronted Glover and two friends in Marner Road, close to the hotel, last October. A fight had broken out and it was then that Kilworth used a knife to stab Mr Glover in the stomach.

The victim required an operation because the knife had punctured his stomach wall.

But Kilworth claimed that when he confronted all three men about the damage to his car, Glover punched him to the ground.

Lawrence Watts, defending, said Kilworth's mobile phone and a pocket knife had fallen from his pocket and, as he was picking them up, Mr Glover moved to punch him again.

He said Kilworth swung out with his left hand in self-defence, not realising the knife was open.

Mr Watts said Kilworth had suffered a stroke as a baby and could not balance well. A car accident last year had worsened the problem.

Judge Richard Cole said: "It is clear you had an intention to defend yourself but the kind of defensive action went too far - you could have hit a vital area and killed someone. But you have no previous convictions and need help rather than punishment."

**** What a bunch of retarded pussies. They don't seem to realise that it could very well have been the other way round; BG injuring or killing victim... That is why people defend themselves with a knife, gun, bat or whatever in the first place!

Moronic country. :fire:

What started the whole thing? An arguement between Kilworth and Glover?
Warwick Crown Court heard how Kilworth's car windows had been smashed by Stephen Glover after the pair got into an argument at the Griff House Hotel in Coventry Road, Nuneaton.
Or the act of Glover and his two friends damaging (braking into?) the car?

I'm guessing that the defendant (read victim of an assault by three larger stronger fellows) had called the police about the damage to his car and they told him that they were too busy to attend to it but would take a report over the phone, and then do nothing about it. It was just a property crime. That seems to be the new trend in policing in Britain. They are doing the same in the city of Wilmington, DE right here in the usa. property crimes do not get an in person visit from the police just a phone report at their convenience.:fire: Burglar alarms will also be ignored. No doubt this will lead to folks taking things into their own hands her as well, not to mention the fact that it encourages petty criminals to escalate their crimes due to the lack of police response and real consequences.

Great Britain number one should drop the great part. They are not. Number two, they have a bunch of moronic idiots over there....ummmm did I repeat myself??
