How and where do the British practice shooting handguns for the various Olympic events that feature shooting handguns of various sorts?

What are they going to do then they host the summer Olympics?:what:

one of the sad things is that most people are not happy about the shooting events planned for the Olmpics. The biggest thing for me is that they plan on dismantling the shooting site once the Olympics are over. What a waste.

Its estimated cost has also risen to an eye-watering £42 million, despite being a temporary venue that will be dismantled after the Games.

Last I heard the pistol shooters were practicing in France.

I would be afraid to go to England to compete in a shooting event; they might rescind any dispensation and throw me in prison for life. Most Brits seem to be nice folks, but on the subject of guns they are a nation of lunatics. And in a comparison of the English police and the Gestapo, the Gestapo was a lot nicer and more friendly.

There are plenty of handguns in the United Kingdom. Problem is, almost all of them are in the hands of the criminals and the police.

The IOC should change the rules for the London games -- ban all non-criminal and non-police Olympians from the shooting disciplines, and let the criminals and the police compete for the gold.

And maybe use each other as targets.

well, it's the money being shoved into the left hand, not the people themselves that are afraid of guns, media commands people to be afraid of guns, so they are,

IF I WAS A LUNATIC I WOULD NOT HAVE MY GUNS AS THEY DON"T LET LUNATICS HAVE GUNS IN UK .

DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS GETTING MY GUNS WERE THE UK POLICE WERE CONCERNED ,

IF THE GESTAPO HAD LANDED IN THE UK IN THE 1940"s I DON"T THINK I WOULD HAVE HAD MY GUNS TODAY .. DO YOU . ??

ENJOY YOUR GUNS WHILE YOU STILL GOT THEM AS THE NEW GUY IN THE WHITE HOUSE DON"T LIKE GUNS AND WHAT GOES AROUND COMES A ROUND AND YOUR NO GUNS DAY MIGHT COME SOONER THAN YOU EXPECT ...

WE DON"T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS IN UK GETTING PRIMERS ETC ..DO YOU ! ! ! ... NUFF SAID .......HAVE A NICE DAY / SHOOT IF YOU GOT ANY PRIMERS THAT IS ..............

The most common place by far is Switzerland. France, Isle of Man etc allow the ownership of handguns, but only by residents. Switzerland allows non-residents to buy and own guns (and handguns), so Britons can live and work in the UK and travel to Switzerland to practice.

For London 2012, special permission will be given to competitors to allow them to being handguns into the country.

Trap, skeet and rifle competitions are no problem as shotguns and rifles are legal (heavily restricted, but you can get them if you really want to).

Northern Ireland?

I read somewhere that handguns are actually legal to own in Northern Ireland for self defense and target shooting. Was i correct in what i read? The source even stated that the police issued carry permits in Northern Ireland for handguns. I found that interesting. The source was www.cybershooters.uk I believe. It did state that shotguns were harder to get in Northern Ireland than the rest of the UK...why I have no idea. Is it possible that some UK shooters practice in Northern Ireland?
