Hi all,
In the last year I've bought 2 Brno 617's: in .22 Mag and .17HMR. Don't know why I got a wild hair to own them, but WOW they are great shooters! Very accurate and well made. I understand Tom Knapp uses one in his show.
Now, this is what I've found out: the mags are like GOLD. People want $100 or MORE for a 10 rnd. mag!! Very hard to find.
Anyone have a line on them?
Also, my Brno will NOT feed hollow point ammo. So I shoot conical shaped ammo and all is well except every now and then it will not reset the trigger to fire; the bolt picks up the round out of the mad just fine, but doesn't grab the rim of the cartridge. I can manually open the slide and se the round in the chamber. Letting the bolt slam shut against it doesn't work either, like my Garand. So I remove the unfired rnd, let the bolt go and resume shooting like nothing had happened.
Any ideas?
Also, my friend bought the same gun, and has terrible feeding problems. The bullet "catches" at the base of the chamber every time! Local gunsmith says he can't fix it. Tried my mags and same thing.
Does anyone know a gunsmith who specializes in Brno's? I know they were made by a division of CZ, but are no longer manufactured.
