I went with a couple of guys to the US Shooting Academy. http://www.usshootingacademy.com/index.html

My freaking Kahr K9 9mm broke another striker!!!! Last time I shot it, three or four months ago, it was fine. I dry fired it 15 times last night getting ready, and I guess that's what did it. The tip of the pin broke off and lodged in the front of the channel, such that I couldn't move the striker all the way forward. After fiddling with it a bit, the tip must've shifted places, because I was able to run the striker all the way forward by hand, but the firing pin didn't protrude through the breech face.

I have two spare strikers. This tip breaking is new to me. I've had three of them fracture on the top edge, but it's never seemed to affect function. Of the two spares I have, one is clearly fractured, but I think it works ok. The other one is nearly new, and I can't remember the history of it. Either it caused the gun to jam, or it came out of the poly Kahr I used to have, and I put the jamming striker in it and sold it. Either way, I'm shelving the Kahr until I get yet another striker from Kahr, and some springs too.

(pics to follow as soon as I can remember my photobucket password!)

Are you dry firing without snap caps? That's a big no-no.

According to Kahr themselves, it's perfectly fine to dry-fire some of their pistols.

I once broke a striker dry firing my 2003-vintage K9. Yours is the only other case I ever heard of. Never had a problem with the gun other than that, but it was disconcerting. When was yours made?

My Kahr is 10 years old. Dates back to when they made real parts for guns. It was not advisable back then despite the gibberish in the books.
