Anyone else fixing stuff around the house that cutting into your gun time, are furnace is on the Fritz. It's being a real pain and i don't know what's wrong.

I need to get out and shoot a few guns for deer season and it's like every day there something I have to fix that keeping me from the range, it's already hard enough to find a place to shoot. I can't go there anytime I want, and days I can go I am here fixing.

Sorry I'm venting a little been a long few days.

Yuk, that stinks with cold weather on the horizon. I know zero about heaters or furnaces, I’d be at the mercy of a repairman.

I spent all of two days last weekend fixing three cracked sprinkler lines. Mine never break in the center of the yard where it’s easy to fix. I had one in the middle of a slope covered with honeysuckle three feet deep that took an hour just to find, two others cracked right next to concrete so I have about 3” to wiggle the broken pieces out and replace them :fire:.

Hopefully you’ll be able to diagnose and repair it soon and get back out there!

Stay safe.

Ya hope I can fix it, but I've done about all I can do without calling a repairman. I'm much better at fixing stuff I know is broken.

I've got a broken drain pipe I've needed to fix for a while, gun stuff keeps getting in the way.......and the whole plumbing part, don't really enjoy that anymore.
Otherwise it's been car stuff for me lately, I think my dad's breaking stuff on his trucks on purpose sometimes.

I'd gladly switch jobs with you, the never ending breakdowns we call them dodges and Chevys lol.

Just spent the last three months preparing to sell our house, finally got that done. Spent the last week driving across the country with everything we own in a 26ft truck and getting it unpacked into a storage unit. Now to find a house for the family while we're staying with the in-laws.

I'll get back around to gun stuff eventually.

I’m trying to keep improving the land on our farm and the reality is I barely keep up with weekly chores. The positive aspect of this is I’m not burning through much ammo. I guess there’s a bright side to everything! Through it all I somehow came up with a couple of very good deer loads for a couple of rifles. Work keeps interfering with the shooting I want to do, but I do manage to keep up with the shooting I have to do.

Hope you find a nice house and the move went good, I know that can be a pain, tell the wife it needs a shooting lol.

The sale went well, the drive was beautiful, just gotta get a few paychecks to establish credit for the next mortgage. Plenty of nice houses out here in our price range.

Just a matter of getting it done. I already wrote off this hunting season.

Edited to add: Might do some small game hunting though. I hear Quail can be delicious.

Spent all weekend building a custom bumper trying to fit an old snow plow on my jeep, supposed to start snowing a bunch this week. Just need a winch now and its good to go. Cant wait to get out my checkering tools for the winter, might invest in an opti-visor.

Looks good, need some fenders now, there pretty easy to make with a conduit bender some tube and 1/8 sheet.
The harbor freight winch was not to bad, much cheaper then a warn.

I wish I had The money for the checkering stuff, those visers look well worth the money.

It's a matter of priorities. You practising before rifle season, then hunting, vs keeping the family warm. Obviously, practising and hunting comes first. It's not like they don't have warm clothes. And as long as the stove is working, you have hot water. You just remind the Missus that if a man says he's going to fix something, then fix it he will; and he doesn't need to be nagged about it every six months.

Yep, I spent the day getting firewood. It was -3.5 F at my house this morning and I heat the entire house with a wood burning stove so needed enough wood to last the winter. That's my 16 ft dump trailer behind my truck with maybe 3-1/2 to 4 cords of wood. I did manage to drill and tap a McMillan stock for pillars this morning before heading out.

Rifle season started yesterday and I haven't even got tags yet but I'll get them tomorrow. The .300 WM Tikka is good to go so if any elk show up to rake my trees they'll be in the freezer.

Havent had an American built car/truck since....well mid 90s? I think .....OH wait my Saturn SL was us built I believe.....My Neon was made in Mexico.
Its funny, its kinda like every now and then the big American manufacturers turn out a lemon, and the thing runs for 300K+ with little to no major maintenance.....I never actually SEEN one tho. Most recent Chevy i worked on was my buddies 98 step side, and its been an .....experience......

Its funny we got to talking about this stuff today. I just got asked again to go fix the drain pipe.......well actually I got kicked awake as I was napping on the garage bed, and told to go fix the drainpipe......

If something breaks around here I hire someone to fix it. It's easier, faster and gets done right.
Plus I don't have an entire area of the house dedicated to tools and equipment to fix stuff (been there, done that). My reloading bench and gun cleaning/storage area take up that space.

That's a good bit of wood, I help a friend out with his firewood business, but this year I'm having to many health problems to work with him more. Normally I'd split about 200-300 cord a year.

For so lucky you can just go elk hunting like that, I've always wanted to hunt them but never had the funds, hope you get one.
