Even with using a bore solvent that is hard on brushes, I went back to bronze brushes. Nylon just doesn't work very well. I rinse the rod, brush or jag after every pass to keep everything clean I run down the barrel anyway. That will minimize the damage to the brushes and jags from solvents.
B12 Chemtool is a favorite for rinsing brushes, jags, and also rinsing out internals when disassembly is not feasible. (Or you just don't feel like it)
M-Pro 7 is a good overall gun cleaner for handgun when you completely disassemble it.
