I just picked up a XD-9 Tactical from a friend who is getting laided off in a few months. It's only six months old, 400 rounds though it, and got 1222 rounds with it for only $450. I don't think I did too bad. And just to think I was planning on getting a Sigma...

I'll shoot it this satiday. But so far I like the feel of it and the trigger pull feels lighter then what Springfield's site says. But it is a little muzzle heavy due to the 5" barrel.

You got a great deal! My XD-9 service model cost me $452 and no ammo. And you got over 1200 rounds of ammo?! I'd say you definitely got a fantastic deal. I think you're going to be happier with the XD than the Sigma.

The guy was trying to sell me the gun before mentioning the ammo. And I kept trying to get a lower price since I could get a new one for around that much. Finally he offered to thow in the ammo... I'm also supposed to get some small pistol primers and powder from him as well.

And I think you are right. I'll will be happyer with the XD then I would with the Sigma.

Ok I just got back from Walmart and pick up some ammo since I needed some for my .38 SPL... Out of stock on 500 round boxes of of .22LR However...

Well I was there I also picked up some 9mm JHP and a 50 and 100 box of 9mm FMJ. All Winchester.

I didn't know that the Walmart here sold 100 round boxes of 9mm FMJ for $11.34. This is cheaper then Midway...

I picked up a SIGMA 9mm a few weeks ago & *I must say its a really great gun. Dont really know why everybody has something bad to say about it.

My next buy is a SA XD.40, It has an awsome grip & great balance while shooting.

Well I think that it was the flop when it was intadunced. Flops can be very hard to recover from.

If I can get 9mm ammo cheap enough I may not bother reloading for this.

For sure! Taurus had to rebirth the Millenium pistols as Millenium Pro after problems with the early Milleniums. S&W should probably have done the same with the Sigmas.

Figure 2-3 cents for primer and powder, and at least 3 cents for cast bullets per round vs. $80-100 per 1000 round case for the cheapest 9mm and it's really a very marginal proposition unless you want minimal power target loads or have boatloads more free time than cash. Only positive is you can pick up all the free brass you'd want at most ranges or buy it cleaned and ready to reload for $12-15 per thousand. Any jackected bullet reload will cost more than FMJ 9mm -- now if you want to duplicate "premium" JHP loads that are 40-60 cents per round, you've room to earn a decent return on your reloading time.

Now that our club has set up a plate rack and allows shooting FMJ at them I doubt I'll ever reload another 9mm anythine soon. I only reloaded 9mm to have lead bullets to shoot at steel plates as my previous club only allowed lead bullets to be shot at steel plates.

I shoot mostly Wolf .45 at ~12 cents per round since I've little time to reload and I'm doing good to stay under 9 cents per round for cast lead reloads with the price of components these days -- if I lose the brass, it was more expensive than Wolf would have been.
