Browning A-5 plug help

I was thinking about making a magazine tube plug for my A-5 magnum 12 GA. Any idea's on what size of dowel I should use and what length. thanks

I used a 5/16 approximately 4" long. Alternativly you can use a pencil. But then again Midway sells them for somewhere around $3.
