Anyone tried or bought the new Browning A bolt Target in 300wsm? I'm considering building a gun to start shooting long range with. I have a stainless stalker in 300wsm and love it. It's either that or build up a remington in 308. I'm just more familiar with the 300wsm and have all the reloading stuff I need for it.

From all the talk I hear, A Bolt actions are more weak/not stiff compared to a rem 700 or savage or custom.... so using an A Bolt simply puts you at a disadvantage to begin with. I too use an A Bolt and I love it but supposedly there are better/stronger actions out there... who knows... something to look into.

would a heavy bbl have an advantage. Remington doesn't make a heavy bbl 300wsm like I want. I'm leaning towards it more than the 308s.

Well if you're really serious about making a target rifle, you should probably get an aftermarket target barrel. Kreiger, Shilen, or Douglas all make really good barrels.

If I decide to go 308 in a remington, What is the best platform to start with?
1. Plain jane varmint model
2. Police or new tactical models
3. Laminated varmint model
